Boy, you sumsabritches are OLD! I know that because I'm right there with you. I was graduated from DU in 1980 also, but I'm not from Pittsburgh. But you could probably tell that from my accent.

Yeah. Not going to dwell on an anonymous garbage comment made by someone who now has the job of trying to recruit against Duquesne and has to result in crap like that. Without exerting much energy, I could easily think of 1-2 things about each of our A10 opponents that would discourage parents from sending their kids there, but that's destructive to the conference and a bad reflection on me if I go that route. Instead, I think you have to look at the commitment by the current regime (a positive), the coach (a positive), the winning culture that is being built (a positive), the quality of our players (a positive), the campus (a positive), the city (a positive), the education (a positive), the loyalty of the fans we do have (a positive). Winning will change a lot of things, including the interest of students, alumni, and the city and surrounding communities. With our women's program in such great shape I think we can be the best 1-2 punch in the city and the A10 going forward.

One of my lasting memories at Ritter's is one early morning breakfast with several Duquesne drinking buddies. While lingering over coffee after eating and debating the fate of mankind, we unanimously reached the decision to order another round of breakfast.

That right there is gold, Mike. Good job.

After seeing some replays online, and I give 5-stars to the O-Line for doing some major road-grading in this one.  I told my wife she could have run through some of the gaping holes in the RM line.  It looked as if RMU players were avoiding having to take on AJ once he got a through the holes!.  It was also nice to see D.Worley get a chance to lug the ball a bit on offense. QB Parr also seems to be settling in nicely.

So the Dukes took care of business against one of the weaker team in the NEC; now can they keep the momentum going through the rest of the NEC schedule?  I'm hopeful the Dukes can run the table and win the Conference.

Got to watch the game on ESPN3. Thought Bobby Mo had some heft on defense, but our big horn sheep pushed them around. Worley looked like a big-time back too. And what could anyone say about Nehari Crawford? Kid is amazing!

First, I hope Ritter understands that I'm not posting this to poke him.

Pittsburgh Sports Now just became the go-to, de-facto, and default place to go for coverage of the Dukes.

Our guy Zac Weiss has joined PSN.

Looking forward to more great coverage!

Duquesne sophomore RB Marquis Brown died yesterday after falling 16 floors from a residence hall on campus.

This is heartbreaking. Please pray for this young man, his family, the football team, and the Duquesne community.

Don't underrate the reasons why these kids are at Duquesne: their education, and Keith Dambrot. No one will necessarily get buried unless they're not practicing or playing well, and Coach will let them know it (and coach them through it). Depth will keep players fresh, and enable the Dukes to play the hot hand.

When's the last time we had choices up front? At PG? When's the last time we had two REAL all-conference-type players?

I'm not going to speculate about any of these kids going anywhere. I want them to stay together, develop together, win together.

We got no respect before the game there. I'm sure they won't want to schedule us again in their lifetimes.

Competing for best in the City is irrelevant and is reminiscent  of the Duke's fan who, at an introductory session in AJP prior to the season with then new coach Jim Ferry wanted to know if we could beat Pitt.

For Duquesne, beating Pitt is not the goal - winning the A10 and getting to the NCAA is.  For RMU, playing and beating Duquesne and/or Pitt should not be the goal either.  No one is clamoring for these games anymore and I agree with Towson above that it sounds like Pitt crying about PSU - move on.

To quote Meatloaf, "You took the words right out of my mouth."

I haven't posted much in a while. All is well, just busy. And every time I visit the board, I spend a bit of time deleting and banning would-be posters who would use our site to sell Canadian Rx, video porn, Asian merchandise, and other stuff. If any slip by and post offending messages, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Your friendly neighborhood El Duque

Some lineup changes for this week. Notably, CB Jonathant Istache replaced in the starting lineup, even though he is a preseason all-conference player.

I was hoping for Bumbraugh to get the reigns at QB. I'd like to see what the kid can do,

Played really well vs. Carolina, even got props from Bob Pompeani (along with the Iron Dukes & Jerry Schmitt, including a Bluff reference).

I hope he has secured a spot on the practice squad.
