Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Since I am using KenPom stats for the above, I thought that I would also include team strengths and weaknesses based on the Four Factors theory (https://kenpom.com/blog/four-factors/). The four factors gives you a bit of a clue on why a team is good or bad when they have or don’t have the ball.
- Effective field goal percentage
- Turnover percentage
- Offensive rebounding percentage
- Free throw rate
If a team ranks in the Top 100 in these stats, I will call it a strength; bottom 100 will receive a weakness - roughly a Top or Bottom 30% rating.

Here's a look at Cornell:
Offensive Strength:  None
Offensive Weakness:  None
Defensive Strength: Limits opponents FT chances
Defensive Weakness:  Does not create turnovers; allows offensive rebounds

Here's a look at the Dukes (national ranking out of 351 teams):
Offensive Strength:  Getting to the FT Line (1); Offensive Rebounds (78)
Offensive Weakness:  Effective FG% (315)
Defensive Strength: Creates turnovers (28), hold opponents to low Effective FG% (56), Limits opponents FT chances (68)
Defensive Weakness:  Allows offensive rebounds (342)

Wow I'm reading this as we are #1 in the nation in getting to the free throw line? Thats awesome, big change from the Ferry days when we were all complaining about the lack of interior offense and guys driving to the basket.

Getting to the line is crucial to winning games. Not only do you get the free points, you get the other team in foul trouble.

Good to see this is being made a priority. Lewis, Smith, and Castro have looked much more aggressive going to the basket with the ball so far this year.

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

I am hoping for Dukes to have fast start, Lewis II handles ball more and gets into offensive flow.

Dukes avoid foul problems with JROB, and control game through out.

And since I am 1,100 miles south, video and audio feed are working so I can enjoy the stream and game.

Go Dukes !

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Boy did that Robert Morris loss kill our RPI.  if we beat Bobby Mo, this is more like an 8 to 10 point Dukes win.  Tejas says take the Dukes and give up to 5

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Idk if it's a busy day or the RMU game deflated some optimism, but there are significantly less people/students than the previous games.

Also Kellon Taylor is dressed.

Two fouls early on Lewis. One was a pretty dumb play  :-(

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

I was wrong about Chas Brown. He is taller than Hughes and just slightly shorter than Krivacevic. Probably 6'8"

The second definitely should have been offensive. Terrible call. First one was bad though.

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Did Ray just say Eric James was out for weeks, and we are down to seven men?  Ugh

Dambrot is PLAYING 7. Kratholm is available too, right?

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Kellon Taylor thought he was still playing football when he fouled that kid shooting a 3 at the end of the half. Absolutely crushed him.

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Bad last 30 seconds, but decent effort overall. Loved what I saw from mike Lewis tonight. Played good defense, rebounded, and shared the ball well. Bogus foul call on him resulted in spending time on the bench.

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

Sloppy sloppy play in the last 30 seconds of the half. Too many mental mistakes.

Lost internet for last minute of the half. What's the score?

Re: Game Thread - Cornell

35-32 at half, Lewis 9, Castro 7, Smith 7 , Williams Jr 8 with JRob 4-4 Cornell killing Dukes with back door cuts

Murdering them with the backdoor cuts, it's the only way they're scoring on us. They may be the worst shooting team I've ever seen for D1 basketball.

We've been comfortably ahead basically the whole game even when the score got close at times.

Cornell is really bad.

It's not very comfortable now, down 58-53
