Women bounce back

With a nice win over St Louis.  Probably comes down to next Wednesday vs Fordham to determine the number 2 seed. Most likely winner of that game will be number 2 and get the bye in A10 first round.

I have noticed that the women in their conference games that they women play better team defense on the road than at home.   Perhaps that mind set needs to be brought to home games.

And St Joes who looked like world beaters against us needed a last minute shot to beat Richmond on the road. I hope they continue to win because they could get the 7 seed and if DU is the 2 seed it could be a very tough first round tourney match up.   They are tied with St Louis and GW for 5th but lose the tiebreakers against them to fall to 7.  But they have the easiest remaining schedule and could move up to 5th.

Re: Women bounce back

I just think the team needed to be away for a day or two and just play. Conor Richardson is back which also helps and Amanda Kalin played fantastic defense. Duquesne had a rough game Saturday slipping into some rough habits against a veteran team. Saint Louis made a run but almost entirely with its bench which shows Duquesne did a great job with the scout on the starters, specifically Jackie Kemph who scored two points.

Now here is the road ahead for Duquesne:

vs Rhode Island Saturday- This should be a winnable game but Duquesne cannot overlook them.
vs Fordham Wednesday- The winner likely is the two seed and Duquesne needs to protect homecourt. The most important game of the year to date regardless of what happens Saturday.
@ St. Bonaventure Saturday- Regardless of record Duquesne has lost its last two meetings at Bona and it is a tough place to play

Duquesne needs to win all three but winning at least one and coupled with the win against Fordham would give them the bye, which certainly could be used though all three couple with an A-10 Championship finals berth/competitive game presents an outside shot at the NCAA Tournament.
