Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

This game scares me. SJU has a lot of talent and is probably due for a game where their shots are falling. Then again, so are we...

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

What is M Hughes' status?  Was his time v Fordham limited due to illness, lingering injury or both?

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

Hughes was sick leading up to Fordham game.

Its gonna be a Carry + Williams game, so chill out.

Uh, well, apparently Hughes was healthier at the Fordham game than I thought he was.

I don’t think their Kenpom is that low, I see them on there at 172 right above us

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

There is despair on the St. Joe's board. In my view, the teams are relatively equal, as is shown in the line. They have internal issues playing as a team. Can't say if that is due to coaching (which is the consensus on their board) or due to players' attitudes. I am looking for a hard fought game from a desperate group. We must not let them off the hook.

The fans want Martelli fired. We need to come out and punch them in the mouth like Bona did, and they'll likely fold. Don't let them in the game.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

Coaching...read the article on line (Tribune-Review-1/11) on Dambrot and what he wants from the players.  My two "HOPES" for today:
1.  We get a crowd!  A nice crowd
2.  We win in front of the nice crowd!!!

Thanks for catching that typo, Jackdoc13. Corrected; my apologies.

so how can they be #1 in the Nation in a category, but second in the Conference?

Rank for conference is for the output within regular season league play only.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

In what has been a pretty dreadful showing of offensive efficiency by the league through the first week of play, St Joe's has been the worst of the bunch. They should be desperate as they are already 0-3 in what was supposed to be a year where they contended for the title. They don't appear to have the rash of injuries as they had the last two years so the talent should be there, albeit they have virtually no depth as Martelli never seems to really go deep into his bench. Hoping the Dukes play better than Wednesday's output, but will take the W however it may come as I think this will be a tough game despite the slide St Joe's has been on.

The Mike Hughes block happened right where I’m sitting someone said the kids bone popped out of his leg. Horrible.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

Nobody on here to take pride in the Dukes amazing comeback (so far)?   Going from down 13 to down 1 in less than 2:30 Seconds. Wow, this board is as moribund as the rest of the Duquesne community

Good win! SJU played a good game today. Our guys got punched in the face a few times but kept responding.

I wonder how much improvement and development 95 expects before Weathers becomes an adequate back-up??
