2017 WNIT and Bracketology

According to Omni the Dukes will be one of five A-10 women's teams selected to play in the WNIT.  The prediction is that the Dukes will play @ Princeton in the 1st round.  The other A-10 teams are GW, St. Louis, Fordham, & St. Joe's.

Re: 2017 WNIT and Bracketology

Kind of Interesting AUBURN was listed as being able to play/host several rounds -- THEY ARE A #11 SEED IN THE NCAA (must be one of those split squad things)

GOOD LUCK TO THE LADIES!!!!

IF the Eastern Coast DOES get hit with the Snow Storm -  getting to New Jersey could be interesting - saw earlier on the news tonight parts of the Turnpike might be closed - others with reduced speeds --  flights are being canceled already.

Dukes will play@ Drexel on Friday.  Time TBA.  If the Dukes win this first round game, they will play the winner of the Princeton-Villanova game.

Re: 2017 WNIT and Bracketology

Drexel finished 21-10 -- were 11-2 at home including a win over Syracuse -  Their Sagarin Ranking is 82 - Lady Dukes were at 118 -

Let's go Ladies!!

Speaking of Syracuse - they are in the 8-9 game on the Ladies side in UConn's Bracket -  LAST year when DU was in that slot - the Ladies were ECSTATIC (I was at the Rivertown Cafe)  This year ESPN went live for Syracuse Reaction -  They looked like they were being led to the Electric Chair.

Perhaps a better evaluation of how the Dukes and Dragons stack up would be how they are playing at the end of the season.  However, I note that Drexel has a good resume of post-season tournament participation in the last nine years.

http://triblive.com/sports/college/duquesne/12068514-74/duquesne-womens-basketball-to-play-drexel-in-wnit

From the article:
"The Dukes, 18-15 (8-8), have won four of their past five games and finished seventh in the A-10. Drexel, 21-10, finished third in the Colonial Athletic Association while losing four of its last five, including a 76-68 loss to James Madison in the conference semifinals last Friday."

From Drexel's website:
"Drexel will be playing in its third consecutive WNIT, and its eighth postseason tournament in the last nine years. The Dragons won the 2013 WNIT, defeating Iona, Harvard, Bowling Green, Auburn, Florida and Utah en route to the only postseason tournament title in Philadelphia women's basketball and CAA women's basketball history."

GO DUKES!  SLAY THE DRAGONS!
