I was watching some of the smaller conference tourneys the last few days on ESPN plus. Coaches were using multiple defenses throughout the game and ball movement. No one on one crap and over dribbling, just basic fundamentals. It was refreshing to watch and the teams played hard no matter the score. This team does NONE of that and it all falls on this joke of a coach. Who in the hell hired this guy when you had hundreds of better qualified head and assistants out there who actually know how to coach and teach. Disgusting

This coach and team are the laughing stock of this league. That's obvious. Last I looked Okani is still sitting still at the three point arc. Nothing changes. I think it was A83 who said that the Dukes should hire the entire Robert Morris coaching staff and I couldn't agree more. You had Carry, Williams, Weathers, TDM, Hughes, Norman, Baker, etc...and couldn't finish better than fifth. Put that group together with a "decent" coach and your dancing. They all hopped on the next flight out. That tells you all you need to know about this coach. Go already. His postgame spiel has gotten very old. Makes one want to puke.

This has become a total debacle and congrats to A83 for predicting the 6 wins. At least Danny Nee beat Xavier TWICE in a season when Xavier went to the final 8 if I recall correctly. What has this coach done? Time to split ways. This coaching staff is the worst i've seen in my 45 years as a Dukes fan. All that talent Dambrot had with Carry, Weathers, Hughes, Baker, Norman, Verhoeven, TDM, Williams, Lewis, etc...They all parted ways and for the most part are thriving now, and I say "good for them". Time to cut ties with this coach. The "old school" stuff got old early on, but somehow keeps pooping up in every interview.

Ayers has shown the ability to stuff a stat sheet at times throughout the season. 12,6, and 3 last game. Yes, he has been inconsistent, but I’m not sure who you are insinuating deserves his minutes more than him at this point in the season.

His plus minus is among the worst on the team. Not blaming Ayers he's out there because the coach is lost and doesn't have a clue. Good effort tonight from JJ. I'd let him heave all day. Thirty plus shots a game. Would give the team a chance to win one if he got hot. Spears doesn't look to him enough when there out there together. It's like Johnson doesn't exist when he has the ball. Love how Larson actually moves without the ball unike the rst of the team. Lazy bunch and that's all on the lack of coaching by this staff. Can't wait until they disappear already.

If it was up to me. My starting lineup would be JJ, Primo, Easley, Williams and Hima. I would play to their strengths and stay away from their weaknesses both offensively and defensively. Omani and Rotroff (when available) would substitute for Williams and Hima. Acuff and Ayers would substitute for Primo and JJ. Since all these guys are so young, let them play through their mistake and let them grow. I think the fan base could live with that type of approach. Just improve as the year goes along. But this coach can not do it because he is stubborn and wants to win now. Wether that means play zone , live with players growing pains or the pressure he puts on himself. He has to understand that we may be the most patient fans in the country. But I don’t see the coach changing for no one and the players and fans will suffer as a result of this and we will unfortunately have a mass exodus at the end of the season.

Yep. Mass exodus no doubt. All on the coach. This team had potential, but wasn't coached up. Total regression. Too many excuses, the same "old school" BS etc...Bottom line is this guy is not a good coach. This team had real talent in Williams, Lewis, Carry, Weathers, Hughes, and TDM and totally underperformed. That's why those guys transferred out or went pro overseas. The win loss record in Dambrot's one decent season was via a very weak non conference schedule. Let's get this guy out of here already. Make a change now.

With a new young coach and an entire new roster, save a few talented leftovers if you are lucky after this debacle. Think Rotroff will be back and that's a good thing. Plenty of talent in the transfer portal along with incoming frosh. Baby steps, but if you nab the right coach it will pay dividends. Doesn't have to be in the long run either. Just need a coaching staff that can recognize and recruit talent, and actually coach players up. Someone who knows today's players and the X's and O's of today's game. Not rocket science.

I always root for the Dukes, but sometimes you have to adopt a second team to get you through another down season on the bluff. This year it's the University of Seattle. Have watched the vast majority of their games on ESPN plus and this team is so well coached and has a three guard attack as good as any team in the country. Also, have one of the best players in the country in Darrion Trammell.  Grigsby, Trammell, and Tyson make up the 3 guard attack and the the front line players are tough as nails. This team will be in the sweet sixteen.

Benz is always in love with anybody the Dukes are playing. Guess he's just trying to play the other team up instead of criticizing the many flaws in this Dukes team. Wish he would be more critical towards this lousy coach and system. Just means he's really not a fan just a puppet.

Out of everything, here is what bothers me. In Dambrots OWN WORDS, at the beginning of the season he said that this was his best team ever. He said it- not you- not the sports reporters- not the announcers-Keith Dambrot said it. What a poor judge of players he has been this year. That is scary.

How can we count on a coach to recruit/coach players when he says at the beginning of the season that this is his best team ever. Wow!!!

Don't think it's a poor judgment of players. There's talent, but you need a coach who can actually coach them. A young coach not stuck in the "old school" ways of KD could thrive with this group. They all seem so hesitant when driving to the hoop, passing, defense, etc... No comfort zone or confidence when you watch this team. Walking on eggshells at this point.

This was St Joes third game in five days. They play basically five guys the entire game. I never want to hear the excuse on this board that we are playing too many minutes. Put the blame where it belongs, on the coach. His offensive sets are terrible. The coach lets the players come down on offense and go one on one without passing to their teammates. He is supposedly a defensive coach, I don’t see it at all. He likes to play inside out, never witnessed it yet. You can’t play in the A10 without a center. At best Dambrot is a good MAC coach. He is so far out of his league in this conference it is not even funny. We at year five of the Dambrot era are relegated to the bottom of the league. Another thing, Dambrot came into the A10 at it’s lowest point and still could not make any improvements.

Not even an MAC caliber coach at this point. Embarrassing to watch the offensive sets and defense. WAY WAY WAY too much one on one play in the offensive end. Rotroff is my favorite Duke by far. Can see the massive drop ff when he's not playing. If there was anytime to play Larson and Bekelja it's been in recent games. They disappeared all the sudden. I mean KD was in love with these guys especially Bekelja. Every post game conference last year he went on and on about him. CRAZY. Time to throw in towel with this pathetic regime.

Why in the world does Okani stand outside the three point line every offensive possession he's out there? Shouldn't he setting a pick once in a while or even cut thrugh the lane. These offensive sets are downright embarrassing. Where is the coaching?

There is a story about college basketball portal inThe Atlantic. It’s behind a paywall. Anyway, the life of our coach in recruiting and keeping players is harrowing. What’s interesting is how dangerous it’s become for the players. All the kids should read; they are for the most being used .

Missed the first part of this game. Figured we were losing because I saw Rayrich posted. Decent end to the half. Really need to attack them when Ossuniyi goes to the bench. Not sure how that wasn’t a goaltend to end the half.

I post when we win also, which isn't often. Ossuniyi goes to the bench about 3 minutes a game, so you might want to attack him when he's in the game as well. Use your body, create contact, go to the line. Basic fundamental basketball. The guy weighs 200 pounds soaking wet. Not exactly Bill Russell. Looks like he's on his way to another 20 rebound performance against the Dukes.

This game was lost before it even started. Dambrot's exudes absolutely no confidence in his team and can't coach. That's pretty obvious at this point. Get out of the way and let the kids run up and down the court. At least they'll lose on their own terms.

No contest today and for the foreseeable future between these two teams! Just sad that we wasted 5-6-7 more years with this staff. It is probably time to decide if you really want to buck-up and get a legitimate coach; or drop down to a lower level. This is just throwing good money after bad.

Yep. Said it a month ago and was bashed on this board. Got to hire a young progressive coach who knows the X's and O's of today's game who can relate to today's players and who can find a diamond in the rough or just a need when it come's to recruiting. Not rocket science. Plenty of very good assistants at mid major and power schools that would jump at the opportunity for a lot less $ than this guy has been paid. Chuck Cooper must be shaking his head somewhere. Also, plenty of 2nd assistants on solid coaching staffs that would have done a much better job coaching this team. There is talent, but it's wasted on an "old school" coach which he loves to call himself. I think either of the Thomas brothers would have made better head coaches than Dambrot, but they may die on the vine because of this guy. They seemed much more articulate and knowledgeable in post game press conferences than KD. Whatever. Just need to get rid of this guy.

CLK, PHIL and FAM I agree with you guys about Coaching at the end of the game and poor execution by our players.  The first thing I said after pounding my fist is why in the hell didn't we foul after missing the 1 on 1.  That said our turnovers were bad tonight, but what did KD do to try to mitigate that in the second half?  Fordham is better no doubt, but that was a game (like Colorado) we should have never lost, period.

Fordham won by a point at home. Doesn't make them better. They were lucky to get out of there with a win.

Primo kept them in the game in the second half. Not going to blame him. The first possession of the second half was an off balanced three attempt by Easley with 20 seconds on the shot clock kind of set the tone. Should have worked the ball underneath to Willliams who was unstoppable in the first half or get the ball to JJ3 who was in a flow in the first half. All about the ebb and flow of a game which the best coaches recognize and take advantage of. This coach never does. Tired of the old school crap he "spews" constantly in his post game interviews. Rotroff has had more more points and rebounds per minute in the last 5 games than anyone on the team, but sees the court for 10 or 15 minutes at most. Acuff gets one shot off tonight and rarely sees the court. Acuff could have been the difference tonight. Easley didn't need all those minutes as anyone could see he was not the least bit on tonight. I don't get it.

Easley should have been pulled much earlier. Couldn't throw it in the ocean tonight and got beat defensively all night. Acuff needs more minutes, Easley less minutes.

This game should tell us a lot about this team and it's growth. UCI although bigger and a bit more talented and well coached than the Dukes just lost a heartbreaker against the #10 team in the country and now are traveling across the country to play a team most of their players I suspect have never heard of. The Dukes, meanwhile have had 8 days to prepare. Got to win this one. No excuse not to. A perfect situation and spot for the Dukes. A loss would be a big disappointment. This is a classic letdown game against a well rested team. All the bettors in Vegas will be on Duquesne (watch the line movements on this one). Having been the former owner and handicapper along win my brother Darcy of the Pennsylvania Prophets, a nationally recognized sports betting service back in the late 1980's until the early 2000's (who won numerous monitored college basketball sports betting  titles) this would be a prime underdog pick. Hope the Dukes don't disappoint. I'll predict a 68-60 win.
