I think we should borrow a real lion from the PGH zoo and put it in a cage and wheel it around the floor at half-time. It might be more entertaining without the cage. Yeah, I remember when the Sheiks (God rest their souls) plucked the St. Joe's hawk's feathers. To actually have the hawk eaten would have been way cool. Sorry, I just can't understand a lion just as a couldn't understand a freakin' bear that they rolled out 6 or 7 years ago. He never showed up for games either. Just glad he hasn't said "this is the best team I've had at Duquesne"... Any thoughts on 2, 3, 5, and 6? FAM, for question #3. I'm convinced that Dambrot may have pulled a Danny Nee on us. Good ease into retirement job. Work hard the first few years to land a nice contract then it's so long...As for #2, recall that we lost Isaiha Mike, arguably the best player here in the last ten years except Mitchell after his freshman year. And he had to sit out a year back then. Was a two year starter at SMU and posted solid FG%, 3-Point% and FT%. I subscribe to the player-coach relationship.... Thoughts...at the end of the one press conference, he implied he loved Duquesne and was supportive. So who got in his ear and why can't Dambrot keep these guys? That is on him and the coaches. Wasn't that what Pirate management said to Dale Long when he demanded a raise? Damn, voice of reason! This is our time to dream; don't shatter our dreams with reality; until that demon November arrives! Apologies mon ami! In the immortal words of Coach Bill Cowher "Perception is reality" so let's perceive at will until November. Mr. E… we want you at Duquesne next year. Ditto... If Gunn can play the SF, we might have a decent lineup, and not require any true freshman to star, which would be nice for once in a long time. We are currently at 15 with Easley, 14 without, so who knows what shoe might drop next. But I like where we are at in such a quick time. Kid, it's a long stretch of time until November. I'll defer judgement until then... Cheering for St. Peters. Love them. 2,000 undergrad students. They have just solidified their recruiting success for the next 3 to 4 years. Interesting to see how many programs offer their coach after the tourney. See Brad Stevens. I just turned 71 on March 21. Not sure how many more years I can take our ineptitude. Six lousy wins. One A-10 win. If Charley Brown had a basketball team instead of baseball, this would be it. I've gone to the tourney every time that we have hosted. Basically to gauge how many light years behind we are to all of these programs. The $13 hot dog and Dr. Pepper combo was a downer though. Sorry about the Loyola loss. They did not play well at all but at least Ohio State lost today. Those Houston guards are phenomenal. Maybe one of them will enter the portal and we can grab him. (Haha). My fondest memory of the tourney games in Pittsburgh was watching Coppin State a 15 seed upset South Carolina a 2 seed and no. 6 in the country in '97. Coppin State was 30 point dogs. Coach Fang Mitchell - Fang's Bunch. Terquin Mott (LaSalle transfer) and Antoine Brockington - inside power and outside shooting. They had to borrow Morehead State's pep band. The entire Civic Arena started going nuts rooting for Coppin. Sadly, they were in it against Texas in the round of 32 but ultimately bowed out. Great memories. Just a couple of quick observations. The transition defense was horrible. LaSalle had 2 on 1 breaks over and over again. They did it on our made baskets. They did it on our misses. This is coaching. Horrible defense on LaSalle 3-point shooters. At one point they were 8 for 10. Positive note - we did play a zone periodically. Thanks for the warm welcome! Sorry to say my daughters friends are hockey players. That being said said I will bring up one point that a school like Bona has over DU. That is community support from people that have no ties to the university. The Oleanaders filled the Reilly Center even in bad times and support the program totally. With all that Pittsburgh has, it seems the community support might be a big missing piece. I'm sure I'll get a lot of pushback but Pittsburgh sport fans are terrible. Oh, they will come out to see a winner. But when a team is on the down and out the fans vanish. See Pittsburgh Pirates, Pitt football, Pitt basketball, Steelers in the '80's. You want the non-affiliated fan to attend, go to the dance 5 years in a row... Nobody asked me but I believe that we are tanking for that No. 1 draft choice. Shades of the Danny Nee last season I really don't give a crap meltdown. I believe that we won four games that year. It’s Miller time??? Hmmm. Velly interesting!! (Henry Gibson from Laugh-In for you youngun's) I believe that was Arte Johnson Got me there Tejas....Henry did the poetry bit carrying a flower... It’s Miller time??? Hmmm. Velly interesting!! (Henry Gibson from Laugh-In for you youngun's) Yeah, I'll throw my two cents in. Not being able to close out games just another short coming. Maybe I'll send coach K a text. "HELP" One more word on conditioning. Recall when Coach Everhart was hired. He told the returning players that he was starting mandatory 6:00AM morning runs. Everyone left but, guess who, Aaron Jackson! No, RE never made it to the dance but I believe that you can thank the on-campus shooting for that. He did make it to the A-10 championship game and that was as close to the dance that we've been in years. Then came the in-fighting with Satan the AD and it was over... Nothing gets my blood pressure exploding more than comments like these: I'll go with 3 at this point. Yeah, it's a really fine line when you start to discuss individual players performance or intentions. Tre Williams shoots 3's but the coach says go ahead and shoot 3's. Remember when TDM would go out on a 2 on 1 fastbreak and pull up and shoot a 3, but miss? Again, the coach gave him the green light to shoot that. Criticize the coach for giving them the green light, not the player. As far as intentions go, to me a player hasn’t transferred until he enters the portal. Up until then, it’s idle speculation which should be handled with private exchanges. BTW Saul, we are not cancelling anything. You have to respect the fact that the players know about this Board and do lurk. Easley misses FT, they drive and score. We lose..... Ohams 15 boards, 8 blocks, 14 pts. Ohans 7 blocks Up 13 now down 8...

"That’s too many minutes for those guys. We’re not naturally conditioned to play that many in a game,” Dambrot said.
Really? I saw the new world-class weight room and training center. That is not an excuse. You're the head coach. You are supposed to know what training regimen gets you the results so that your players are able to play as much of the game as you feel necessary. Injuries happen during the season. That is why the team should have been prepared to play short-handed.
