Kind of surprised to see him cut so soon considering their OL isnt exactly strong.

I also saw on twitter some DU football player is joining WWE.

KD should most certainly reach out, let LeBron know if his kid is looking to go off the well beaten path of the ucla/duke/kansas route of a one and done, consider coming to DU for a year, LeBron would know his kid will be taken care of by KD personally.   This might be the last time DU can ever be relevant across the nation again.   And the kid would not be overwhelmed with cameras and media.   Its Duquesne/Pittsburgh, after a week, no one would care.   Gotta talk about Kenny or Crosby all the time.

I wouldnt go that far, but it hurts the chances.   They need to have a team one year that wins, makes a postseason.   Then players would be more inclined to stay if they had witnessed something good and can imagine something better in the future, like their teammates and coaching staff, and fans show up and make it fun and exciting.   Its a big dream.   :-)

I like this schedule, lots of chances to win games.   IDK if they will play the MWC, or even if the A10 did, would we be part of it, they only have 11 teams.   San Jose St would be the worst team, they won 1 conference game last year.   Would really be nice to win the vast majority of these OOC games, get some team unity, positive vibes and momentum heading into the A10 slate.

The lion is odd, but what makes it worse is that the Duke could be a great mascot with the right costume.   Doesnt have to be a rough tough Steely McBeam kinda guy, needs to be something cool, fun, and someone willing to put in effort.  Its like if Notre Dame had an Irish setter as their mascot.

There is no reason to pick the Dukes anywhere but last.   Great thing about all preseason rankings/articles is that they are meaningless.

He's listed in there...

David Dixon: This freshman spent this past season in prep school after an ACL tear coming out of high school cooled a recruiting process that had included several high-major offers. Brings notable size at 6-9, 215 pounds.

Dambrot says: “Has a very good skill level. Played for Mo Speights down in Florida, who played 13 years in the NBA. So he’s been well-schooled. Has a chance to play right away.”

Maybe display the lion more inside the Coop.  Make it more visible and not needing to be looked up online why its a lion.  Its a mascot, not a nog deal.  Still better than a Billiken.

They are changing their moniker, for PC reasons.   Sounds like RMU will be too.

"Robert Morris University's ability to transform and adapt is in large part responsible for our success as an institution over the past century. We take great pride in our students, alumni, faculty, and staff, and hope that they are proud of their association with RMU.

"We are aware that other colleges and universities have decided to drop and/or change their nicknames recently in light of negative historical connotations associated with their monikers. Given the complex nature of these issues, we, as an institution of higher learning, believe it is an appropriate time to carefully consider who we have been, who we are, and who we wish to become."

According to an online statement from George Washington University, the committee determined that supporters of "Colonials" view it as referring to "those who lived in the American colonies, especially those who fought for independence and democracy," while opponents see the term as referring to "colonizers who stole land and resources from indigenous groups, killed or exiled Native peoples and introduced slavery into the colonies."

George Washington will keep using "Colonials" until a new name is introduced. That is expected by the 2023-24 academic year.

Its gonna be tough, again, for Dambrot to keep 15 players happy.   He created this, so let him figure it out.

Isnt it 2 over the limit?   Unless there is someone, or two, that arent on scholarship that I didnt know about.  But thats typical Dambrot too.    Here is what the web site has, 17 players listed, 2 of which I believe arent on schollie.....

Ahhh, ok, espn only had 2 seasons of stats and says he is a junior.
Nonetheless, he seems like someone who should help stabalize the frontcourt this year.

Interesting.   Didnt see that coming.   Helps up front, and if I remember him correctly from the game vs us this past season, he's a good player, and adds some force in the paint.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Bowling Green State University men's basketball head coach Michael Huger announced that Myron Gordon and Joe Reece have been dismissed from the Falcons' program for a "failure to meet program standards."

Hope whatever that was about is in the past.
Appears he has 2 years left(or maybe 3, IDK the covid rules anymore).

I saw the NBA draft order was determined the other night.   30 years ago, Orlando drafted Shaq #1.   They might draft Chet Holmgren #1 this year.   Imagine those 2 playing against each other!   HA!!!
That '92 draft class was awesome, Mourning went 2, Lattaner 3, but other guys Jimmy Jackson, Robert Horry, LaPhonso Ellis, Doug Christie, Latrell Sprewell, Hubert Davis, Tracy Murray.   we'll never see anything like that again.

But, do we know anything about Easley and next year?   Is he still planning to go into the draft?  Is there a deadline to submit your name or return to college?  Its pretty rare for a DU player to be in the draft, not familiar with the rules.   But just seeing how many newbies we brought in, I guess it would be nice if he came back.   Get some size and leadership.

Sorry, I cant be excited.   On paper it looks ok.  But the coaching staff is the same.

Dru Joyce III has been named associate head coach.

means nothing, the guy calling the shots is still there.
Maybe if he is being groomed to take over after KD, he can make some impact, but I dont see it happening this year.

That pep bad was pathetic.   Recreate one, sure.   But not the same old thing.   DU AD needs to figure out their student body.   Hold a meeting to see what the students want at games.   Without them, its quiet and boring in there.   Do they want free stuff?   On court challenges for prizes?   $1K scholarship given out each game?  Free books?   Free clothes, t shirts?   Free food?   They need to "create" a student section.   Do students need a NIL?   It will help the team.   Looks and sounds good on tv.   And old heads like us like to see the students get involved.    I know winning has a lot to do with it, but like said above, even after beating pitt, the students disappear.   That has to change.
