We've lost 3 guys to Gtown, UNLV and now the Cuse, so these Power 5 programs must see something in Spears, JJ and Hima.  That being said, Hima was very raw, but had athleticism.  KD's mistake, as noted by many, is not giving him significant minutes last year to see if he would be on a continuing improvement path.  However, I really like this recruiting class and i think we really improved the guard position.  KD does know how to recognize talent, but I guarantee you he won't be saying anything about the talent level of this year's class after his misguided statement last year.  I also hope this new coach can recruit, that is the life blood of any program.  Finally, I agree with many that I would still like seeing a seasoned big for next year.  Rotroff is ok, but never fully healthy and isn't really that athletic and the two new guys are young and inexperienced.  The one thing I don't want to see is Tre starting at the 5 again.

CLK and Iron Duke I would like to see a decent big to finish off this class.  If we don't land one then I am guessing we'll see Rotroff in the middle to start or Barre or Dixon - basically playing 3 forwards.  I just don't want to see us having to play out of position again at the 5.  Tre needs to play the 4 and that is that.

I checked the official website and Gunn and Brewer are listed as "Graduate Students".  Does that mean anything in terms of scholarships or is it just that already have a college degree?

Thanks CLK, at which point does Easley have to decide what he is doing?  I still wonder about Barba, Rotroff and Gunn.  Barba is a total unknown, Rotroff has helped at times, but he is hurt a lot and I assume he has already graduated?  Dunn is an unknown as well, but is he still in our plans?  I agree with Iron Duke that another decent big would be welcome, especially if Rotroff isn't playing.  And finally, who knows if Rotroff could play as a graduate assistant or something like that.  All in all an impressive recruiting haul and as Iron Duke said, desperation can be a good thing.  Pistol out.

ok, I'll go along with you guys on Brewer, proven player at a good level, but he would be it for me in terms of undersized guards.  I would really like to see us get Dai Dai and Corey to round out the guards.  Of course getting Theiro would be big as well, but he is getting major interest.

As Iron Duke noted on another post, there are still guys on scholarship who are NOT A-10 talent level players.  That is all I am saying at this point!!

CLK as I've note I have some serious reservations about undersized guards that didn't get any real mid-major interest.  We are not pulling a Calvin Murphy out of the hat here.  Also, as noted by Iron Duke, if we still have guys on scholarship who are not A-10 players then what the hell are we doing!!!

I like this pick up as well very much, but the PSN article notes this is our 4th recruit adding a third guard.  So have we actually put pen to paper with the other guards?????  If we did then I am not enthused about that.  Size matters the majority of the time and as I've stated before, not into small guards in the A-10 unless they are the second coming of Calvin Murphy.

Well said Professor, we need higher skill level guys all the way around.  KD must win recruiting battles for better players over the next couple of weeks, it really is that simple.  The only guys left who I think can legit A-10 guys, and not necessarily as starters, are Primo, Tre, Easley and with more seasoning Hima.  Not sold on Gunn coming from where he did and Austin is hurt too much and is just not at the same level as the good A-10 big guys. I don't know about Barba so maybe he gets a pass.  Again, have to out recruit to get better players no question.  We'll see, but this is probably the most critical recruiting period in quite some time.

Kid looks like he can really shoot the rock and I love the size at PG and he also threw some really sweet passes in the video.  As KD said, we have to win end of March and April so we'll see.

Well the season is mercifully over and what a train wreck it was.  Remember KD's comment, "most talent" he has had at DU....Try not to fall off your seat fellas.  Well KD is right about one thing "we have to win end of March and April", which is obviously a reference to recruiting.  So my question to all is who goes and who comes in?  Now I know whoever we recruit is uncertain at this point, although we apparently have several offers out there, but we can certainly ascertain who needs to go - and let's keep in mind this isn't personal, just objective bball analysis.  So that being said the only guys I would like to see come back in one capacity or another, meaning starter or off the bench, are Hima, Tre, Easely and JJ or Spears.  I am not sure that either or both of the freshman guards stay, and they both have a lot of potential, but I see Primo just forcing too much and not distributing enough as a PG - even though he has scored a lot the last 3 games.  If he can play more under control he could be really good, but again I also really like JJ's outside shot and quickness to the hoop.  Primo is a better drive, cross-over, step back jump shot type of guard.  In any event I expect a lot of roster movement, which is necessary and will free up a number scholarships that we need to hit on, no misses.  What say you guys???

Phil I am also with you on who you would like to see come back next year, but with one exception - Easley.  I know he has been playing out of position, but I don't think he is quick enough on D and his shot is too inconsistent at the 3 - which is his true position.  I especially liked what you said here Phil:

"......I am indifferent about Okani, Primo, & Ayers returning. I have no desire to see a scholarship used by Gunn, Bekelja, or either of the high school players that have verbally committed."

I am with you Wildwood on the recruiting and retention, like most on this Board.  Note though that Harper said we haven't "signed anyone yet", so I am taking that to mean although those 2 guys committed, we have not signed them to LOI's yet.  We cannot afford to take any flyers on anyone that doesn't demonstrate A-10 talent coming in.  If you look at Pratt and the 5'7" PG its hard to believe they fit the bill.  Pratt apparently cannot shoot that well as a wing and the other guy is just too small and will get eaten up at this level.  This needs to be a banner recruiting year without question, but given the recruiting and retention history of this staff it is more than fair to say when I see it I'll believe it.

Right on CLK!!!  I was just talking to a couple buddies and the consensus was that we need at least 3 impact players that can come right in and start and be quality A-10 level talent.  Reading between the lines I actually think we may be looking at 5 or 6 new guys coming in next year and that would be great if they are all good.  KD cannot really afford any misses this cycle.

Dennis and turning over half the roster would be a very good thing.  Many on this Board have commented that there are only maybe 3 to 4 players that people think we should bring back.

Once again he commented about recruiting on a higher shelf so I think between guys leaving and open scholarships we may have a lot more new guys next year than we think:  Here is the exact quote indicating no one has signed yet:: We’ve got to find guys now. We have no player that has signed with us.

Harper also said "we haven't signed anyone" so that to me is a good thing considering my comments regarding A-10 talent and 5'7" PG's.

El P you can't transfer twice without sitting out a year.  As to what everything else has mentioned let me add my 2 cents.  We are all in agreement we need a fairly seasoned PG for sure and at least 1 big, two would be preferable (1 PF and a true C) and a lock down wing shooter.  As to who I would like to see coming back I would say Hima for sure, Tre, JJ and Acuff.  Enough of explanation has been said about Hima and Tre, but I would like to see us keep one of the freshman PG's and I saw enough of JJ getting past his man and dishing to Rotroff several times to think with better players and offensive flow around him JJ could really develop into a very good scoring and passing PG.  Can you imagine if we have more of an inside game and then other players have to help down low and give JJ more open looks outside with the way he shoots!!!  His outside shot and range is better than Primo and I think he is a better passer.  I would also like to see Acuff stay as I think he is a good team guy, doesn't back away from adversity (I heard his press conference) and his shooting really got better from year 1 to year 2.  With open looks he too can score from outside.  Everyone else for one reason or another I really don't care about and CLK I sure hope we didn't actually sign a 5'7" PG that no one else even offered as that to me is really only going after the low hanging fruit.  There was only one Calvin Murphy.  Nuff said, Pistol out!
