Welcome to SHOO-SHOO, RAH-RAH! The Duquesne Dukes Basketball Fan Message Board!
One of America's Great Message Boards - Any Inappropriate Posts Will Be Deleted!
It doesn’t matter who leaves, who stays or who comes in With "Fans" like this Who Needs Enemies??? Townsonkid/CLK - Thanks for the notification that the Recruiting Class has been posted - Bernard with three years remaining would increase the Sophomore Class to 6. Cyrus was released recently.was in the USA Today which had some roster moves. Witchita State IS a POSITIVE OPTION Easley is gone baby gone. We are at 13 without him. It's NOT OFTEN that there is a situation where there is a player I "Would Like Sean Miller to Get" THIS is one case I wouldn't mind seeing it happen --- IF only to see the reaction coming out of Kentucky and/or Calipari. Natalija has signed with West Liberty College - they had a pretty good record (21-9) on the Div II level Going to UIC Per Post Gazette (Mike White) Thiero is down to five schools -- he will make his decision on Sunday (Mothers Day) 'The Five Schools are DU, Pitt, Kentucky, Xavier and Maryland. Cyrus Holder (WR) has signed as an Unrestricted Agent with the Chicago Bears -- Sure it is a long shot but nice to see he gets a chance -- maybe makes the Practice Squad and down the line moves up. Committed to Charlotte In the portal right now there is an average of 4 1/2 players for each of the 353 Div. 1 teams. I think it will easily reach 5 per team before we're done. AND when you add maybe 2-3 per school who have completed their eligibility and HAVE to move on - You're looking at between 7-8 players per 13 player roster -- OVER 50% Turnover Per Roster!!!! Dennis "Can DO" I'll even add an asterisk and a special dispensation for Maurice "MO" Drinks *- What about Neil Hood from Edgar's years? All of the Players I mentioned had last names that started with M -- In regards to Neil Hood - There is a small college in Maryland (Hood College) one of my former Co-Workers was a graduate from there -- I used to tease her about being a Hood-Lum!!! Maybe Neil should have went THERE and Told People "Hey the School is Named after ME!!!! Granmudder's Post Brings Back Memories (Mostly Painful) Ayers is going to Bowling Greem The Women are permitted 15 scholarships as opposed to 13 for the men. Natalija has placed her name in the Transfer Portal. It doesn’t not matter who stays, who leaves or who comes in. The women’s program is a terrible, unfixable mess under this coaching regime. Clown. I agree with A'83 and Hook Shot!!! THANKS for the Find and Sharing Levon!! With Jay Wright's SHOCKING Departure at Villanova -- First name thrown out there was Kyle Neptune - Fordham's Present Coach Only one question for me - Does the NCAA grow a backbone and tell the second time transfers that there will be no waivers. You have to sit out a year. That’s what the rule says. My guess is that waivers will be doled out like candy. Thus, further ruining the game. Agree with Hook Shot with one caveat - IF the coach leaves for another position or is relieved of his duties -- ALL players in the program get one more free bite of the apple - but it HAS to be done in the next year Per Pittsburgh Sports Now -- Ayers has placed his name in the Transfer Portal -- Given the way the season ended with him not on the bench - not suprising. Signed with Delaware Tydus Verhoeven has entered the transfer portal as well. Nick Kratholm (remember him) Just went into the Portal - from Niagara -- Played very little there this year Getting the additional help from the two new signees for the front court is a plus -- It appears now that there are two scholarships remaining -- I would like to see one of them devoted to a shooter/scorer type preferably in the front court.

One scholarship would remain should the staff choose to use it.

Here are another pair of ideas --
1. Add University of Detroit - While the Hoops Team is not as good as Witchita State -- IS in a Non-Football Situation -- Media Market is Bigger -- AND PROBABLY WOULD NOT HURT TO HAVE THAT GOOFBALL DICKIE V RAVING ABOUT OUR CONFERENCE BECAUSE DETROIT IS IN IT!!! This is of course dependant on Detroit being interested.
2.Stick with 15 -- 3 pods of 5 -- You play the other 4 teams in your pod twice - Home and Away (8 games) You play the teams in one of the other pods on the road (5 games) you play the teams in the third pod at home (5 games) 18 games total -- Next year then rotate the 5 game series -- 5 teams you played on the road -- You get them at home - 5 teams you played at home - you play on the road.
You could even change the composition of the pods after 2 years.Basketball Recruiting » Dukes in Final 5 for Thiero » 5/07/2022 12:07 pm

(Monday is also his birthday) I was hoping that perhaps there was some symbolism in the Mother's Day date with the fact that he had family ties with DU.
White closes the article by stating Xavier and Coach Miller got into the race late after Miller got the job but it's hard to see anyone beating out Kentucky.

Mo was a JUCO who signed (but never played here) DU reportedly beat out UNLV for his services - back then JUCO's were really relevant and Tark got more than his share.
I remember some graffitti in one of the elevators at Rockwell Hall saying -- Where is Mo Drinks?Men's Basketball » Single Jeopardy - Dukes Big Men - Starts With M » 4/28/2022 8:49 am

$100 - Dukes Big Man Who Left School to Become a Forest Ranger
Who Was Dan Maliagnni (6'11 from Western Beaver - here same time as Murray M)
$200 - Dukes Big Man who was a 7'4 German Compatriot of Ardnt Neuhaus
Who Was Rolf Mayr
$300 - Dukes Big Man - Subjected to "Off His Afro Call"

Officials can point to a player's leg etc and say "Off His Leg" I remember one call against Ray where the ref pointed to his head and said "off his head.
$400 - Dukes Big Man who Scored 2 Career Varsity Points
Who Was Murray Meikenhous
Although to be fair to Murray under today's rules it would be 3 - was from WAY DOWNTOWN
$500 - Dukes Big Man Who Was Cult Icon From Chester High
Who Was Fred Moon!!!
Fred actually had a decent Senior Season -- At times I wondered if Hima might be "Another Fred Moon" but given the present situation and the win now urgency staff probably can't wait.Men's Basketball » Ayers Into the Portal » 4/27/2022 6:34 am

They presently have 13 scholarship players so 2 openings would remain -- below is the breakdown as to where the players would be at the start of next season -- It presumes Lauren and Olivia will have a redshirt year from the past season.
Freshmen (3) Westphal, Pushkoli and Sunday
Sophomores (5) McConnell, Snezhana, Myers, Kulo, Ammons
