Tell your boys to put together a pep band.  Your boys put together a 6-24 season.

Sorry not my boys . Just look objectively as to the recent accomplishments at the University. New medical school. Cooper center. Football team opening at Florida State. Big paycheck. Duquesne football players have a chance to make team. A pep band is a good thing especially with the solid reputation of the Music School. But the bitching on this board is really really really getting ridiculous.

Witchita State IS a POSITIVE OPTION

Here are another pair of ideas --

1.  Add University of Detroit -   While the Hoops Team is not as good as Witchita State --  IS in a Non-Football Situation --  Media Market is Bigger --   AND PROBABLY WOULD NOT HURT TO HAVE THAT GOOFBALL DICKIE V RAVING ABOUT OUR CONFERENCE BECAUSE DETROIT IS IN IT!!!  This is of course dependant on Detroit being interested.

2.Stick with 15 --  3 pods of 5 --   You play the other 4 teams in your pod twice -  Home and Away (8 games)  You play the teams in one of the other pods on the road (5 games)  you play the teams in the third pod at home (5 games)  18 games total --  Next year then rotate the 5 game series --  5 teams you played on the road --  You get them at home -  5 teams you played at home - you play on the road.

You could even change the composition of the pods after 2 years.

Can’t disagree with your analysis but the fact remains Commish McGlade said it.St Louis no doubt pushing for  another school in close proximity to SLU

Chicago Loyola officially enters July 1. Probably not enough time for this season to go East & West Division. Bottom line A10 going to be a very good basketball conference. Transfer Portal & NIL makes it difficult for non power 5 schools but the head coaches in this conference are very impressive.

Is this your speculation?  It could be, but everything I have heard is that Kevin is coming back. Would appreciate a source if it is not speculation/

Also, I am not an expert on rules, but I would not be surprised to see more than 13 players on the roster. Rotroff gets his Covid year and because he is not a transfer maybe his scholarship doesn't count?

Need a center. Competent indeed. Keep it up CLK

I would have to project Tre Williams as the starting center if he is fully recovered from his injury. This is not the ideal situation for me but I can't see any of the other freshman bigs holding down that position. Still hoping for a better alternative.

I agree Tre Williams NOT a center especially in the A10. Not to beat a dead horse but the loss of Hima hurts. Dukes need a rim protector, finisher & rebounder on the low blocks. Desperation or bust for Dambrot & staff.

Great pickup. BritannySpears see yeah. Get a competent center. Desperation is a good thing. Dambrot & staff picking up their game. Get a center.

It appears that Duquesne lost 68% of its scoring to the transfer portal.  The only other A10 team with a worse % was LaSalle at 87% (understandable with a new coach).  The top teams in the league - Davidson, Dayton, Bonaventure and Richmond are at 25% or fewer.  I can't see how you are going to throw all these new players together and generate the team chemistry you see with mature rosters.  I'd love to be wrong.  But, I think we are going to have another poor year.  Maybe we win 7 games?

That’s a very good point. Team chemistry takes time. Look at Richmond’s run this year. I guess Coach Dambrot will be forced to dumb down his intricate offensive schemes. 😂

This one really ticks me off. It didn't have to be. Hima will be a solid player somewhere with the right development by the coaching staff. Mark my words!

I so agree. Right coaching staff this kid will be a solid player. Guaranteed. Not a big fan right now with Dambrot.

Who has signed a letter of intent of the recruits that have committed to play for the Dukes ? My understanding is that we only have verbal commitments. Why the hold up on the signings when the signing period began on April 13 ? Thanks in advance. By the way, Rotroff just had surgery again, no time table on his ability to come back.

How can I ever doubt the great CLK. Rotroff is a surgeons dream for income. Yes we need a proven center. Not the first time I was wrong on this board. Especially in regard to last years win predictions.

Brewer is in my opinion a much better guard than any of the ones we lost.  I have watched some of the FIU games and the kid is a player, third team Conference USA.  He reminds me of the small 5'8" Richmond PG.  As the article said he excels in the pick and roll, one of the best.  The problem at this point is that Dambrot has failed to secure an A10 caliber experienced center from the portal, and there is no evidence that he is recruiting one.

Dambrot is not done recruiting, so I am going reserve further comments until the class is finalized. As of right now we have commitments from 2 HS recruits (if Pratt signs), three prep recruits and two JUCOs. No direct experienced D1 transfers from the Portal.

CLK I would love to get a solid experienced center. I don’t see this staff pulling a rabbit out of the transfer poll hat. Also agree will your concern regarding the latest recruit at center. However, the coaching staff has six months to work with Hima who has a great upside talent wise. Hima is not timid although he does take foolish fouls. Love his aggressive nature in attempting to block EVERY shot within his 7’4 reach. I could live with Rotroff assuming he does not get hurt again. Big assumption. Hima in my opinion can reach the top tier of A10 centers. IF, BIG IF, the staff coaches him up. That falls squarely on the shoulders of Dambrot & his coaching staff! Six months in the gym is plenty of time especially if the new guards actually run a sound offense.

Wow I guess the Duquesne fans will miss Spears dad screaming to his son to shot every time he touches the ball. Forget the open player or running the play. My disappointment is that J Johnson & Acuff may have entered the portal because of Brittany Spears me first attitude especially with Dambrots full support. However, after losing 17 games in a row WHO CARES

Can you imagine a similar story about Duquesne basketball 😱 such a story would be the equivalent to reading Tolstoys War & Peace.  Can you recall the people who have contributed to the Dukes 45 years without a bid to the Big Dance. Clearly any comments would constitute the longest thread in history regarded this board.

Dunphy is considerably older that KD. I really can't imagine what energy he can bring to the table. Who knows? He might do a great job. I would be looking for a young mid-forties assistant coach from a strong P5 program.

They just tried that didn’t work. Dunphy is a Philly guy. Who knows pick up a few 3 stars or Philly portal transfers. Can’t believe Lasalle fired Dr. G after He took that team to the sweet 16. Not sold on Dambrots future at Duquesne. Hopefully, I am wrong. The good news is the recent influx of new coaches in the A10. Also Rambler Nation coming to the conference. 4 automatic bids in March should also dictate 3-4 NIT invites.

Why would anyone believe coaches on their downswing will make the A10 better?   Is the KD effect spreading across the conference?

Just a rumor in the Philly 5 basketball arena. After all he is in the Lasalle hall of fame. Thanks for your expertise as always. By the way how is Coach Rick Pitino working out. 69 years old, social security & Medicare eligible.

Oh well Lasalle hires a 73 year old coach today. Who? Just like I told you Archie Miller, Frank Martin & now a 73 year old coach at Lasalle. It’s sooo sooo hard being me😂

Caputo strong recruiting ties in Florida. Again with the addition of Coaches Miller & Martin the A10 should be a very formidable conference. As was the case with the ACC this year the bottom feeders in the A10  have to step up their non conference wins. Hopefully, the Dukes strike gold via the portal transfer this spring. Lasalle should fill the last open position within the next week.

Well said Professor, we need higher skill level guys all the way around.  KD must win recruiting battles for better players over the next couple of weeks, it really is that simple.  The only guys left who I think can legit A-10 guys, and not necessarily as starters, are Primo, Tre, Easley and with more seasoning Hima.  Not sold on Gunn coming from where he did and Austin is hurt too much and is just not at the same level as the good A-10 big guys. I don't know about Barba so maybe he gets a pass.  Again, have to out recruit to get better players no question.  We'll see, but this is probably the most critical recruiting period in quite some time.

Pistol with the number of players entering the portal Dambrot should have some flexibility in building a championship team. NCAA has become the equivalent of MLB free agency. Yes I miss the Lumber Company. In the past if your High School  recruiting sucked Coach fired after 3-4 years. In todays world a program theoretically can be turned around in one year. Duquesne has the facilities, commitment from the President and yes a very good conference. Get the players & Coach them up. Yes indeed time will tell.

Perhaps one of you Duquesne Journalism types might want to work as part-time Copy Editor.  How did they miss the "q" in Duquesne? Even spell-check would catch that mistake!

The reporter did use the word abysmal. Can’t disagree with this adjective addressing the Dukes season. Final note you would have a laugh at southerners attempting to say Duquesne after viewing the spelling.😂
