Welcome to the 11th annual "I am a donor and I am done with Duquesne thread."

I love Duquesne. I guess I contribute more quietly as an alum and as a fan. Maybe I wasn't spoiled by success like some of you geezers. As a geezer myself (came to Duquesne in 1982) I never really experienced too much basketball success, but still love(d) the experience. For me, basketball is a component and not the be-all-end-all of my love of Duquesne. My fraternity won the frat league and all-school intramural titles in football and basketball my senior year, and frankly that was more meaningful to me than the basketball team making the A10 semis that year. Winning or losing doesn't take away from what I learned in the classrooms and in the dorm rooms and doesn't diminish how I feel about the University.

I would love for us to have the success of a Providence or even St. Bonnies, but I'll take from it what I can. I loved Everhart's run to the A10 championship game and our mini-success in Carry's freshman year, but I watched and listened to just as many games this year. And will the next as well. I can always hope for greater successes and my wish is that all students and alums and fans are treated well and fairly.

I have no answers to any of the six questions. No one else does right now either. I hope that the team and the Athletic Department and the University are scrappy and fight for success on every level. If you're looking for validation on the basketball court (especially as a Duquesne fan), you're probably looking in the wrong spot.

Go Dukes!

I'd be amazed if Rotroff really wants to put himself through another season of college basketball, but if he does, it should be somewhere else. If he's a good kid to have around then offer him a graduate assistant role or something.

It’s ironic that in many other threads, athletes are lambasted for having no loyalty and for moving on to other opportunities. Yet here we have a kid who has persevered through multiple surgeries and continues to represent Duquesne to the best of his abilities. I’d also like the team to win, but not at the expense of what Austin means to the team.

I am now praying feverishly that I live to hear Ray describe a Primo to Chico to Pedro fast break. If only there were an under-the-radar 7-footer named Groucho available to clean the glass & throw an outlet pass to get things started.

(I may have to be content with that outlet pass being Gunned down the floor to Primo.)

Would be great if Fitzgerald Bobo still had eligibility remaining

I thought Steve committed for Danny Nee (!) and then de-committed when Nee was fired (!!). I remember watching him play in the tournament when he was a freshman or a sophomore at Akron.

Funny that he's on our sidelines now.

Also wonder if Mikey is a bit of a placeholder for Maceo. Hopefully he comes back and the role definition for everyone else is pretty solid.

I'm remarkably psyched for the opening of the Coop. We played in the Igloo during my years. Living out east, I've seen the Dukes play more games in the Palestra than I have in the Palumbo.

I'm very happy for the program and all involved. When you do the right things the right way for the right reasons, good things tend to happen.

Remember when the best news during basketball season was media coverage for getting stranded on the Turnpike? Thank you to President Gormley, Mr Harper, and Coach Dambrot!

Go Dukes!!

As a freshman at Akron, Michael Hughes played in 20 of 36 games and averaged 7.3 minutes per game (1.8 points, 1.2 rebounds).

I hope that everyone wearing a Duquesne jersey makes progress and sticks with the team. Not everyone develops at the same rate and not everyone has the same short-term and long-term goals.

That is big and gives the team a number of options. Welcome back, Maceo! Glad you are a Duke!

I really liked this kid. When he didn't get time as a freshman, his response was "I have to work harder." Best of luck, Lamar

I have watch EW play every game the entire season.  He has had some bad shooting nights along the way (so do all players), but I have never seen him play "where he didn't care".  He is perhaps the most passionate player we have, and gives it all every game.

Agree 100% CLK. People have spoken about "body language," but I see consistent effort out of him. Even on long offensive sets where he doesn't get a touch, once the ball goes up he is looking at trajectory and defensive positioning, and then works his way to a spot that optimizes his chances for the rebound. Same thing on defense. His consistent reads, positioning, and hustle does not speak to a kid who "doesn't care." I see him as a wildly talented player who lost his touch for portions of the year, but responded by doubling down on rebounding and defense.

Guard play outside of Carry was absolutely brutal. Have to question why is a guy who has made 9 of his last 43 shots (Frank Hughes) taking the shot when you're up one with 42 seconds left. Feed the ball to Williams, Weathers, or Hughes. They were the guys who kept you in the game in the first place. Waste of a solid night by the frontcourt.

100% on this.

A couple of earlier fast break opportunities also ended up as turnovers

I started to research this after seeing yesterday's post. My Smart TV has an app on it called "TV Plus," which I've never used in the two years I've had it. One of the listed channels in that app is Stadium Sports. I clicked on it last night and saw an all-access program on the Nevada basketball program. The programming guide also listed the Duquesne-Bona game for 7:30 tonight. No subscription, nothing additional to do. I don't know how many people this will help, but it might be an option.

That's what I figured. George Mason has seemed to figure things out once conference play started, and Stockard started to get healthy for the Bonnies around the same time. Both teams playing better, especially a number of the younger Bonnies. Their KenPom numbers likely skew lower due to their non-conference performances.

On the flip side, St. Louis is getting crushed with injuries right now, and ours are starting to mount. Its never an excuse for not winning. With both TDM and Norman out, Wade is going to have to pick up some minutes. Good thing he's seen as much game action as he has.
