Per the school web page --  5'8 G Raymi Coueta - From Cayenne French Guianna -  she will be a freshman -  since the school generally announces the signings in groups am presuming the recruiting is completed for the year.

ONE point to clarify -  I read in the PG when they were talking about one of the players Pitt is recruiting in the portal - they said that the players in the portal are allowed to make FIVE visits to campuses   So when we see so many schools "reaching out to a kid"   May be somewhat misleading --  and while a player MAY commit without a visit -  might be something of a stretch -  DO think the player would at least want to see the campus, general area etc.  Would be nice if Pittsburgh Sports Now could find out who might be VISITING -  that could help.

CLK:  APPRECIATE  ALL the names you come up with.

Kiandra Browne -   6'2 F from Indiana (she is a Canadian)  was limited to 7 games this year due to thumb and leg injuries -  played on 22 games 2 years ago 13 minutes per game 3PPG 3RPG - 59% from the Field --  Indiana has been SERIOUSLY GOOD the last two years --  Two years of eligibility left --  Hoping she will be a solid contributor.

Welcome to the Bluff Kiandra -  By my count should be two remaining scholarships.

Team has their first new recruit from the Transfer Portal  --  Jerni Kiaru -  a 5'7: PG from North Carolina Central - she will be a Sophomore - She was the team's second leading scorer averaging 10.7 PPG and shot 31% from 3 point range -  Fairly decent numbers for someone in her Freshman Year.

Welcome to the Bluff Jerni

Hook Shot --   THANKS for posting --  I found it somewhat unusual that the two portals had such different totals as to the information --  And the first one "Raul;s" was more of a gold standard.

This one lists over 1,000 players the other one had 552 as of yesterday -   Olivia is the only one still listed in the other portal.

Here is an idea of HOW HARD in might be to keep players happy and in a program -  Stanford has 3 players in the portal -  Lauren Betts 6'7 was NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE YEAR averaged 5.9PPG and 3,5 RPG as a Frosh 9MPG  -   India Nivar PG averaged 3.2 PPG in 12 Minutes as a Freshman  Agnes Emma Nnopu averaged 3,2 and 13MPG as a Junior --   Given that Stanford had a lot of "comfortable victories"  Coach has a lot more leeway in giving bench players the playing time.

Olivia played 82 Minutes --  Aniya 71 --  Reilly 174 and Singo 25.

I had hoped that Olivia and Reilly would at some point be similar to Libby Bazelak and Amanda Kalin whom I felt were one of the top backcourts in the A-10 when both were healthy.

While I would like to lessen the workloads for Megan and Tess --  there are not a whole lot of minutes which might be avaialbe for the three players who redshirted -- the one freshman who signed and any new additions

Wonder why they left LaSalle for one yr.
Will they receive sholies?

Their coach at St Peter;s left to take the Seton Hall job --   Dunphy was kind of a late hire at LaSalle --  At one point last year it looked like LaSalle had 11 players leaving etc so perhaps it was a case where a hasty decision was made by the twins  and it didn't work out.the way they hoped

ONE thing about "the numbers and the portal"   Each year there are close to 2,000 players in the portal (not all of whom will hook on with Division 1 schools --  Add 3 to 4 players at a lot of schools who will have "exhausted their eligibility"  and you're looking at 7-9 spots on the average roster which is a 60-70% roster turnover

Early in the season there was an article which stated that Olivia did not receive full clearance until a few days before practice started - she was in sweats a couple of times throughout the year -  HOWEVER by season's end she was dressed and available --  It is DISSAPOINTING when a local player who had the reputation coming in leaves the program. She has signed with Eastern Michigan.

Looks like several teams in the A-10 might have significant departures --  From Senior Day Aniya Walker was the only one honored (in addition to Snezhana)  Which leads me to believe Ayanna and Lauren are returning.

Some teams in the A-10 have significant departures -  and will need replacements from the Portal -  DU might have a significant ONE YEAR WINDOW -  After this year at a MINIMUM -  Precious, Amaya, Lauren and Ayana will be departing --   THIS will be a lot to replace --  Hopefully the two bigs who sat out this year (Ammons and Kulo) are a start --  with one freshman signed early -  Three scholarships are now available hoping the staff can find some suitable candidates,  Also hoping Dea Pushkoli can contribute some - but the front court needs seem more pressing.

Share the thoughts about "roller coaster season"   St Louis who got hot at the end of the year and ran the table in the A-10 tournament --  DU beat them -  had a big lead --  saw most of it evaporate but hung on -  If there was one team who I thought was "over-rated in the A-10 it was St. Louis who seemed to have little depth and would be ill-equipped for the three games in three days they needed.

Loyola who had one win in league play -  DU was bombing them at half time in the post season-  but needed a last second block to escape with a one point win --

It is no longer a Hypothetical -   The Tournament field is announced as are the dates -  the Dukes ARE in the field. So let's have a Poll in ONE place where the fans can say Yes (We should play)  or No (we should not)  Fans can give reasons if they chose or a simple yes or no -  Some have already weighed in -  they can change their minds if they wish -they can chose not to vote.

My vote is YES -  I don't think it is any different from a Non-Power 5 Conference going to one of those Minor Bowls out there -   Do I WATCH them??   NO -  But I do appreciate (in this case) the Tournament has NO Power 5 schools -  When the other tournament fields are announced - teams at the Bottom of the Power 5 conferences say "We are better than them"   A Wisconsin or a Syracuse might say We are better than an Indiana State -   and they may be right -  Does this mean essentially EVERY School from the Power 5's should be participating SOMEWHERE (if they chose) and the schools from the other conferences should not --  THAT is where I say no and a reason I'm voting Yes.

To the posters who have disagreed with other posters -  Your views are already on record -  You CAN change them if you desire - but in this Topic - PLEASE set those differences aside -  You CAN DISAGREE - just DON'T link your post to another post or refer to another poster.

Finally SHOUT OUT YO GHOST - who was the FIRST to make us aware that this was possible

Women beat Richmond 83-69 in a game that see-sawed back and forth -  team made some free throws at the end and Richmond went cold the last few minutes ---  Megan had 23 points 18 rebounds (These are NOT typos!!) and 8 assists --  In ALL the years I've been going to games (both men and women)  This is AS GOOD as a performance I have witnessed-

THANKS for posting --  Last year when the Women Played St Bonnie at home --  For the first three quarters they missed EVERY Three Pointer --  they were like 0-17 --  In the 4th quarter they made a couple including one from Laia (it MAY have been her ONLY 3 pointer of the season)  A few weeks later in the rematch in NY - the team set the record (19 3 pointers) which was broken last night.

Even the walk on drilled a 3

"Coach B"  OBVIOUSLY longs for the "Good Ole Days"   When people like Dickie V "salivated" over coaches like him, Louie, Rollie Mass, and Big John -   Syracuse would play 13 Non-Conference Games at Home (with the rationale that the Carrier Dome had the bigger capacity)  Maybe ONE at a Neutral Site -   Then when the NCAA Tournament game around his teams would RARELY JUSTIFY their seeding ---  (David Robinson anyone???)

Would be willing to bet more often than not Jamie Dixon and "his tough guys"  were too physical for Boehms "prima donnas"

I'm sure HIS Big Donor is "doing it for the kids"

A guy like Andy Toole -  who has to compete to get players in --  plays nearly all of his non-conference games on the road against much better competition is probably a BETTER COACH than this "old over-rated windbag"

Probably Not --    Am presuming some people might have ONE team they pull for -- Others might be in the "I want ALL A-10 teams to do well because it helps the conference rankings crowd"

I DID notice that the teams that I thought would have been on the dislike meter all showed up at the beginning of the schedule.and thought it would be interesting.

There were were 20 Responses

St Bonnie with 26 points was the most disliked total wise --  they were also the Gold Medal Choice of 8 voters.
Richmond was second with 24 points total --  They were named on the most ballots --  11
Dayton was third with 22 points total --  They were tied with Richmond in being named on 11 ballots

So is that Richmond getting points for Gold, Silver and Bronze?

No Sorry --   And for those who voted for a team to get the Gold and the Bronze --  they will get the Gold Only (3 Points)  For lack of a better idea -  deadline for the scoring will be 7PM Wednesday (Tip Off for St Bonnie)  Fans will still be free to weigh in afterwards.

Given that the team has some time off -  and based on some recent posts...Olympics Style Poll!!!

Rank the teams in the A-10 in the order you dislike them (in the spirit of goodwill I will use the term dislike as opposed to hate.

GOLD MEDAL (3 points)  goes to the Dayton Liars
SILVER MEDAL (2 points) goes to Richmond
BRONZE MEDAL (1 point) goes to St. Joe --  THIS is based primarilly on their annoying mascot who at least twice has had his feathers "forcibly removed" in Pittsburgh

Can select fewer than 3 if you chose -  ALL Gold Medals worth 3 ALL Silver Medals worth 2 ALL Bronze Medals worth 1 -  All "others receiving votes"  NO Points.

LET THE VOTING BEGIN!!!

IF there is ANY Justice the checks for the Officials WILL BOUNCE --  They must ALL have Richmond AND THE POINTS!!!   If someone asked one of them the score --  They would probably call Richmond "Us" or "We" and DU as "Them or They"  as in "They Shot Well in the First Half"  We got it under control in the second!!

Score is a little closer that what it looks like -- Dayton hit a pair of 3's in the final seconds.  DU had 9 players in uniform --  Townsend and Westphal were in sweats.   That 9 players includes the Walk-On.  In addition to the bulky brace on her knee during the warm ups Lauren is wearing a contraption around her waist --  I presume this is for some sort of back problem and would guess that SHE is not at 100%.

Amaya had perhaps the best game of her career 21 points 13 rebounds --  Dayton's bigs are strong but unathletic and they didn't have an answer for her - despite early foul trouble Precious had 16 points 9 rebounds --  Naelle also had 16 points.   To her Credit at 5'9 there were times last night when Reilly Sunday was basically a Power Forward.

Hats off to the Players and Staff --   11-4 is better than 10-5!!!!

Beat George Mason!!!!

On the positive side -  Team was 14-15 from the Free Throw Line and both Townsend & Wasylon were back in action,

Are going to be times when they play well and lose -- so happy to accept a win on a day they didn't shoot well.--8-2 beats 7-3!!
