Offline Ferry has had enough time. Not seeing how his style will attract the type of size that will elevate the program. The beat a bad St. Louis team. LG - no points. Powell - about 10 minutes a half. It's all about the guards. U can be an optimist - I prefer to be a realist. Team was a disaster under the Everhart regime. If he was such a great coach what is he doing now? I know where he is but why not a head coach? Everhart was a foul mouth bully. I am not a hater - I call it as I see it. Duquesne has no chance against a top 50 program. Get some height - compete - toughen up the schedule. Instead he keeps fooling clowns like u who thinks there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Okay now you're just trolling He's outta here!!!! Of course none of us want this to be the height of the teams success. But you can not blame us for being happy about how we are winning after watching the last three seasons. Offline Ferry has had enough time. First of all, he's been reinstated. Second, you newbies don't understand the uproar that Ron's firing caused on this board. Ron may have had his faults, but this program was on life support after 3 very bad hires, when Ron came here. He stopped the bleeding, and energized what was left of the fanbase. By all accounts, he was also very personable in his interactions with fans, and alums, in contrast to the AD, who was anything but. As far as Ron being fired, I agree that the program had plateaued, and while I wasn't in favor of Ron being fired, I did think his seat needed to be getting warm. He wasn't brought here to go to CBIs forever. With all of that said, the handling of the firing was horrible. The whole thing left a significant number of fans outraged, and many, including some major contributors, and long time season ticket holders, angrily walked away from the program. Some of their anger has been unfairly directed at Ferry, especially last year, when the team failed to show any improvement from the year before. This season, and the improvement shown has been important for several reasons. First, many questioned whether Jim Ferry was any good at all. While he still has a long way to go to prove that he's the "next level" coach that Greg Amodio promised, this season has gone a long way towards at the very least, allowing us to believe that although we may have doubts about how high he can take us, he's not going to be a disaster like Edgar, DAP, and Nee were. Yes, the schedule isn't great, but truthfully, it never is. The schedule was easier last year, and we lost 19 games. Would I like to see us be a bit less dependent on Colter, and Mason? Sure, but they're our two best players, and we have to lean on them. I think we'll be more balanced next year, but we can't sacrifice games this year, trying to get ready for next season. This season is too important. Many angry people have had the smile restored to their faces by this team. That's a good thing.

You just don't make the jump from below .500 to beating top 50 programs in one year. This season compared to the last three is a really good sign for us.
All the positive posters of course want to see the team improve even more next year and the year after that until we are a top 50 program who makes NCAA tournaments, fills AJPC, gets top recruits, and puts Duquesne on the map again.
But coming off a season where you went 12-19, being 15-7....is a pretty nice feeling and if you don't say that you are lying to yourself.
