Ferry should have.....

No, not a Ferry bashing thread, but he did something today that so many coaches do, it just staggers my brain.

Why the hell were Coulter and Mason even playing the last three minutes of a decided game? Somewhere in my head I have my own calculus of when to throw in the towel or when to call off the dogs, something like 7 points for each full minute left to play.  Why not get Smith and Castro in the game to get some minutes against some real competition?

Probably because Smith isn't eligible until next year.

Re: Ferry should have.....

I think coaches are sometimes pissed when a team plays poorly, and thinks it's effective strategy to try to make them play through the mistakes. I've never studied it enough to see if it makes sense, but yeah, I'd have the backups in there.

Re: Ferry should have.....

The Dukes did out score Davidson in the second half, but with the cushion from the first half, it wasn't enough.  All the foul calls early hurt the Dukes in the first half and sent Davidson to the line early.  I think Ferry was trying to get this team going right to the end.  Don't think his technical helped much with the refs either.

Re: Ferry should have.....

By the time of the T there were so many calls and non calls that even the play by play announcers couldn't find the fouls by watching replay. Some days it's just not gonna go your way. The crowd was announced at around 3500' was that accurate?
