while no one likes to be on a losing streak, this loss didn't bother me as much.
RI is a tough place to play and despite the roller coaster of a season they are having, is still a talented and well coached team(even if their coach is a nut job)- with EC Matthews, they are likely at the top of the a10 and ranked.

what i liked most about the dukes this game is the effort. after losing 4 games, it would have been very easy for these kids to pack it in early when the got down by 8-10, but they fought back. almost won. thought they played very hard and never gave up.
four tough games to go. winning in olean is never easy, richmond always gives the dukes fits, fordham is a mystery, and st joes is pretty darn good. despite the dukes lack of coaching, i could see these kids willing themselves to win 2 of the last 4. i may have given up on the staff, but def not giving up on these kids. they def showed they are fighters!

No one could say it better!

I like a positive attitude rather than negative even though my nature is probably more disposed to the negative side.  That being said I am rather tired that the best we seem to be able to say about the program over and over again is that they played hard, tried, etc.  whether it be this team or past teams.

In other words, I'm not just talking about this game or the current team.  I want to be the Duquesne of 40+ years ago and beyond and like Dayton, St. Bona, Gonzaga, Xavier, Villanova, etc. today - all similar schools in many ways and all schools that achieve constantly and consistently and do more that give a good effort.  Not to denigrate anyone here or the comments referred to above - I just want to win and win consistently and play tough teams well and get back in the NCAA.  Like the schools I mentioned and other, similar ones.  Win...not at all costs..but win.

Re: Rhode Island road game tonight! Win or loss?

I'm certainly not offended by anything!

i was trying to shine a positive lite on the effort, but , my comment was more of a backhanded insult toward the coaching staff.
i think this team has talent, and like ferry says, they are a good team. however, i have absolutely no faith in the direction of this program under its current coaching staff.

should point out- i have nothing but respect for coach rhodes and what he has done with his Bigs. its gotta be frustrating for him to watch his guys riding the pine when he knows they could contribute

Important to stay engaged.  We all feel negative though interestingly few if any are calling for Ferry's head.  It's uplifting to read the quality of posts here last several weeks given not much to like about this bball staff/administration and how we all had bought-in in our Red & Blue rose-colored glasses, only to be let down once again.

Coach Ferry can raise the program once he gets over his current disposition - what worked against Wagner, Sacred Heart and Bryant is not working vs Dayton, VCU and GW.  Try a little less New York City finesse and more Pittsburgh tough, Ferry could begin to make a difference in A-10.

Re: Rhode Island road game tonight! Win or loss?

Speaking of not "playing the Bigs" as mentioned by heelsdukesfan, what is the likelihood of J Rob playing tomorrow at St. Bona? If he does step on the court, will he be out there longer than 90 seconds? In the past, Coach Ferry has gone up to 8 games straight without playing him. J Rob rode the pines for 4 games before he stepped on the court against Rhode Island . We will know by this time tomorrow night.
