Game Thread - Canisius

7pm tip on Friday. Per KenPom:
Dukes #174 (2-1) vs Canisius #223 (0-2)
Canisius projected to finish 8th of 11 in the MAAC
Game prediction: Dukes by 7, 80-73 - Dukes with 72% probability of a win.

As a side note, KenPom nailed the spread in the last 2 games. Hope that prediction accuracy continues tonight.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

Canisius gave Kentucky a run in the first half last week. This won't be easy, but with another solid effort like Wednesday we should be heading to Lexington at 3-1.

Work in Murraysville and live in the city. When I leave here at 5 I'll probably be getting into downtown as the game is tipping off, stupid light up night.

They scheduled a game during light up night two years ago and parking was a nightmare. We're skipping this year.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

Finished the half strong. Blackman was really solid. Canisius is really shooting the ball well. They play a really small lineup and D. Lewis can't guard these smaller guys. Might want to sit him down.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

Another up and down first half. Smith, Mike, Lewis II, Blackman leading the way. Love Castro off the bench if keeps playing like this. Sanders and Lewis looking sluggish tonight.

Yeah both bigs struggling. This is a game where we miss abrahamson. It would be nice to pair him with Mike as our main rebounders who can guard at the perimeter.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

Last year, El D said the Dukes' best guard was sitting out the year. Based on what we've seen tonight, Smith is clearly the best guard we've seen in a LONG time.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

I would argue that Ajax was better, but Smith certainly looks promising.  Very Small sample size.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

Heartbreaker. This game was lost at the free throw line.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

They missed one free throw, we missed 11. That's your game.

Bad loss. Couldn't make a stop at the end.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

The 5 man weave to nowhere in the last 6 minutes of the game.  The ball never went inside. Yes we missed a lot of free throws but that was another horrible coaching job by Ferry to close out the games.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

I Mike was so close to being the hero.  After he made his shot the players should have made it tough for them to make it down the court to eat up time.  Horrible on the coaches part.

It was too much of a scramble, If you overplay, they might get a layup. Ferry said he wanted a timeout, but Canisius got the ball in before it could be called.

I arrived about 3 or 4 minutes after the start of the game and easily found parking on Forbes Avenue about 1 & 1/3 blocks from the fire station.   Regarding the game, a disappointing loss for sure.  Too many missed opportunities at the free throw line for the Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

This reminds me of a game about 20 years ago, Radford came up from Virginia and stole one just like the Griffins did tonite.

You don't lose games like this at home, no wonder no one will attend these games......

Re: Game Thread - Canisius

For those of you who were looking for J Rob he was sitting on the bench getting zero playing time while freshmen and walk ons continue to play.
