Re: GW game thread

90%, 78%, 91%, 95.5%, 77%, 100%.  Know what those numbers are? Those are the free throw percentages for the UConn Huskies during the 2014 NCAA Tournament, which they won. Had they missed one more free throw during regulation of their first game, which was against St. Joe's, they would have gone home. This is what great free throw shooting can do for you.
65.6%, 69%, 47.4%, 53.8%. This is our free throw percentages in 4 losses of 4 points or less. These are the small things that make a difference.

Re: GW game thread

WOW 81, that is a disturbingly alarming statistic, but your point is very well taken.  We certainly win at least 3 of those games if we shoot foul shots better - including tonight!!  Can someone bring McConnell's dad in to teach foul shooting techniques.  Sanders % is inexcusable and I wouldn't play him shooting in the 40's from the foul line - sorry.  You want to play NS, make 70% of your foul shots.

Re: GW game thread

Why were Smith and Mike on the bench for the last shot while Abrahamson was in the game?

Mike didn't have a great shooting night but I still trust him more than Abrahamson. I do get that Castro, Lewis and Blackman are more accurate shooters than Smith, but Smith does have the ability to get into the lane.

Sanders on the court also made me scratch my head. I'd think Mike more likely to grab off a missed shot.

But yeah. Keep shooting threes at a less than 20 percent rate and keep shooting FTs like eighth graders with broken thumbs.

That's the Smalltime system. Remember it's all about bricks.

Re: GW game thread

Poor shot selection game after game is mostly on the coach and his staff.  It shows a failure to understand the talent level of his players (lack of playing time for Robinson another example) and a lack of discipline.

Why Abrahamson was on the floor at the end of the game and Mike and Smith were not is a great question for the coach.  I'm sure he would have an answer in line with his usual post-loss comments.  But the question will never be asked because no one in the media cares and why should they?  Other than a handful of people, no one cares.  Very sad.

Re: GW game thread

JRob proving once again why he needs to play at least half the game. As someone else commented, if we had taken less 3's, if half of them had been 2's we probably win. And the free throw shooting is just mind boggling! So disappointing. Didn't think there would be the same learning curve here as at LIU but sadly I was totally wrong. FYI- In RE's last season, we averaged over 3000 fans per home game according to our stats on line.

Re: GW game thread

Near the end of the game GW player throws up a three, a Duke, Mike I think blocks the shot straight up in the air, the shooter catches it and fires it up and makes it as shot clock goes off, three points.

Some times it just bees that way, sometime.....

Don't believe those attendance figures. Those are a lie, just as the ones now are. That said, they were indeed drawing much more than now.
