Cast your vote, mine is they keep him one more year. Offline Depends on time left on JF's contract. Offline Pistol, are you advocating that Ferry gets one more year or just saying DU will give him one more year because they can't stomach eating the remainder of his contract? As I have said previously, I just don't see them eating $670K or more. I'm afraid we are stuck in this nightmare until the end of his contract. Thanks Amodio! Ron, the only coach with consistent, good results in the last 40 years wasn't good enough for this very poor excuse for a Division I basketball program. Offline Per Z Weiss twitter--according to JF Offline You are correct Ironduke81!! They finally had gotten lucky and hired a coach who made basketball at DU fun again and they blew it. Not that Ron was perfect but then again, who is? He was certainly good enough to have competitive teams, create interest and put some people in the seats. Offline What really makes this more disturbing is that I am watching WVU now and Ron is sitting on the bench--what a waste! Offline Professor, only playing the pollster here, in no way am I advocating they keep JF. Really, the Coach is more important than 1 recruiting cycle so although I hope he gets the boot I am just not convinced we'll eat the remaining salary - which by the way I am told is only one more year. Really, the Coach is more important than 1 recruiting cycle so although I hope he gets the boot I am just not convinced we'll eat the remaining salary - which by the way I am told is only one more year. PistolPete, Ferry has two years left on his contract. Offline Read the DK Pittsburgh Sports article yet? Offline When I think of recruiting I always remember what one of the former Dukes who played on the last NCAA team once told me when I was happy with the recruits one year, He said " Phil, they all look good on paper" . Offline Trying not to be cynical, Phil, but the recruits are exactly what the coach wanted. He has a good track record that when kids visit, he gets them. Rhody's kids were bigger, stronger, smarter. The three guard philosophy is a lesser league construct to stay in games. If we are keeping Ferry, he needs two brutes who can compete with the Rhody's with the two schollies he has. If we are changing, then bring in a coach who recruits big guys. Offline I would not be surprised if they give him another year. Nothing they do surprises me. Josh S. had potential, played on England's Olympic Team Ibwas told... and was talented. With the right coach who knows?? Offline This basketball team is hopeless from what I saw on TV today. Mike Lewis is the only player on team who Offline If every person on this board...not that many of us are left - email Mr. Harper it can only help. Please don't say it won't do any good. It could not do any worse than us writing on here like the deranged - depressed - and delusional (I know, no points for small-time alliteration) fans we have become. He listens and I can tell you that it will help. Take anything you have posted and send it in. Sending this information to the President does not hurt either, but sending it to the AD is a must. If you already did, do it again. Offline I would not be surprised if they give him another year. Nothing they do surprises me. Josh S. had potential, played on England's Olympic Team Ibwas told... and was talented. With the right coach who knows?? I'm not sure a different coach would have made a difference with Josh S. He just couldn't seem to keep himself out of trouble. From what I've heard, it wasn't his basketball abilities that kept him out of uniform. Online! A question... From strictly a coaching standpoint, is there anything that you have seen in Jim Ferry's 145 games at Duquesne to make you think that he can take Duquesne to the next level (NCAA Tourney)? Offline Dukes 2012 - I can't disagree...but just another example of Ferry's leadership. His answer in the post-game was they have to play harder. Not much teaching there is there? Offline Harper has to realize that a change needs to be made, the question is, will the higher ups allow him to make the change. From a dollar standpoint, they will have to pay Ferry for the next two years regardless. The extra money is whatever they will have to pay the new coach. My guess is that the new coach will cost less than Ferry, because they won't be able to land the type of coach who would command a larger paycheck. This is where Harper will have to prove his worth. There are guys out there, both low level head coaches, and assistants, who could come here, and do a solid job, probably for less money than Ferry is being paid. The question is, can Harper identify these guys, and then get one to come here. I can remember a few talking heads questioning the hiring of Jim Ferry, because they didn't think his style would translate to the A 10. Don't ignore things like this. The right guy is out there. Go find him.

Pistol my good friend. I disagree with the 1 year, being Duquesne I suggest give the coach a 4 year extension. Be bold after all it's a young team. Secondly, that crack AD staff has survived 3 AD's 5 coaches no brainier my friend. I firmly believe that Duquesne can continue this success for another 40 years. GO DUKES😂😂😂 Spend more $$$$
Re: Does he stay or does go?
Two years left--keep him one more year
Otherwise, out at the end of this season. JF will ask for one year extension for recruiting reasons if he only has one year left.
Rhode was the better team. Bigger, shot better, a step faster.

Regardless, after this year, it's bye-bye, Jimmy. It's a shame that we really knew ya.
Re: Does he stay or does go?
Threw the whole team under the bus. Blamed lack of toughness on their part.
I wonder if Powell and Gill would have made us a little tougher this year? We'll never know because the sad parade of players in and out of this program continues.
Re: Does he stay or does go?
Now these recruits we had high hopes for are gone and maybe leaving. Names like Powell, Gill , Steele, M. Jackson, etc, etc. gone elsewhere , and we have a young team that may end the year very badly.
And really, not that many really great players because those ones wouldn't come here in the first place.

Re: Does he stay or does go?
plays consistently well. This program is dead,it has a average coach who has players at every position who
have serious flaws to their game.We have athletic players but none of them can shoot ,we have guards who can penetrate but cant make a layup, lapses on defense,we have size but have no athletic abiliity.
Duquesne does not belong in the A10,we are dragging the league down, its embarrassing.
Duquesne might be able to win consistently in a league that has no scholarships,we would be a good
team at the Division3 level. This is where Duquesne belongs as I am sure the local high schools could
fill the recruiting needs for Duquesne . Duquesne could outspend its competitors in Division3.
The Duquesne brand has been irreversably damaged. The years of neglect and lack of leadership, the
promise of winning basketball ever returning are as likely to happen as the residents of McKeesport hoping that economic prosperity return to that city in the next 5 years and Mckeesports population would
grow back to its glory days of the 1950s.
Re: Does he stay or does go?
Watching the game on TV it appeared there was a small crowd as there usually is for the Cooper Classic. And as usually happens when we get a small crowd, we lose and those fans don't come back. Top that with not just losing, but getting blown out. Please email him.

If you say no, then he must go after this year. No point in delaying the inevitable.
