Thank you Mr. Collier very nice article. Telling quote from article "Pitt is so bad it lost to Duquesne which is so bad it lost to Robert Morris" But thank you Mr. Collier. Very nice article.

I was just coming here to post this myself.  I wish the online article had the same photos that appeared in the actual newspaper.

Re: Gene Collier Article - 1952 Dukes vs Bonnies

When you read this remember that at that time the Pittsburgh Pirates were known as the " Rinky Dinks" with a young team filled out by over the hill veterans, except Kiner, and the Steelers were earning their SOS title( same old Steelers ) the men from Ronney U. were awful  and Duquesne was the cities Winner.

They were a big deal at that time.....

Exactly! We had hockey, but it was minor league, and Pitt hadn't recovered from the nonsensical decision to push out Jock Sutherland, and deemphasize what was probably a top 5 or 6 football program at the end of the 1930s. Of course the Holy Ghost fathers would stunningly do the exact same thing to a top 5 or 6 basketball program later in the decade.
