Harper's Options & Scholarships

Harper was either very brave or very dumb to take this job. I do not envy his position over the next month.

If he is forced to retain Ferry due to finances this crew will be disgusted & he will have to endure at least one more year of ugly alumni relations. If he sends Ferry packing he will have a hell of a time hiring someone that the various factions of concerned parties see as a "great" hire.

Even if JF gets the freshmen, Smith, Sanders, JRob, Castro, & James to return while keeping his 3 recruits, there is no way he coaches next year's group to any sort of respectable record. He just has no track record for that. That seems worth noting especially because somebody from that list will most certainly move on.

With the departure of Josh Steele, is there one more scholarship available?

Phil, I promise you if Ferry returns there will be no negativity from my end. I'd be too frustrated to keep doing this stuff.

All I want is better. Somehow it's Mission Impossible on the Bluff. I used to be a passionate NCAA hoops fan but honestly I haven't watched the Tournament the past 3-5 years. The only games I watch are ours. I know my rhetoric has worn on people and it's worn on me too.

Peace.

If Harper took the job knowing he wouldn't have any say over his direct employees job security, he is an absolute idiot. We would be the only d1 school I can think of that doesn't let a guy come in and pick his own people. There literally is not one point to justify bringing him back. If his contract is still a hurdle at this point, we don't belong in a serious conference like the A10. This season has been absolutely pathetic and has assured me and should've assure everyone else that Ferry has no right coming back. If he does, I can see myself going the Tejas Duke route and saying screw it. I don't care anymore at this point but am at least holding out hope for change before I go.

Re: Harper's Options & Scholarships

Try to get this guy, at the very least he should know how to run a team, how to shoot, play defense and win.  I know Duke asst coaches dont make the very best head coaches, but I would bring in someone fresh, no history, but is relevant.  if he could win here, he leaves for P5 school, if not, he goes back to Duke.

On April 29, 2013, Duke Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that he had named Jon Scheyer to his staff as a special assistant after the resignation of assistant coach Chris Collins(now winning at Northwestern). With the departure of Steve Wojciechowski(doing ok at Marquette) from the Blue Devil staff, Scheyer was promoted to a full assistant coach on April 18, 2014.

Get him and I will buy season tickets again.

I would totally buy into that hire! Good young coaching prospect.
