Agreed as others have pointed out, 13-15 wins and he could have saved his job, but not 3 Conference wins and a soon to be 13 game losing streak to end the season. Sorry!  No!

Re: Lewis / Mike story

"I'm just focused on the season and whatever happens after the season, happens," Lewis said.  "But I can say I don't think we'll transfer ... Coach Ferry took a chance on us.  We both didn't have a lot of offers coming out of high school, so I think it's not fair that you come here and kind of blow up and then leave the people who actually believed in you before anybody even knew you."

What a concept!  If only another certain guard had thought like that, DU men's basketball would be so much better today.

Hard to argue with the outcome though. He's in the NBA, and is carving out a niche for himself. He'd be in Europe if he had stayed here.

Sometimes it's not all about "yourself".  I could be working my way up the CVS chain to get higher and higher, but money and other things aren't worth it. Money and accolades arent everything

C'mon! He's put himself in position to make millions playing a fun game, instead of having to grind away at some funky job for 45 years, hoping to make enough to retire on. If he can hang on for 4-5 more years, he'll be retired in his 30s, free to do whatever he likes. Not to mention the trophy wife!

Re: Lewis / Mike story

Uh, guys, you misunderstood.  I was talking about Danny Herrera.

Just kidding.  Obviously the move worked out well for T.J. & he got everything he wanted.  I don't argue that point.  It's just that in sports today, unfortunately, whether we're talking about kids transferring in college sports or free agency in pro sports, what's good for the player isn't good for the fan & vice-versa.  And nobody can think that this was good for Dukes fans.

Re: Lewis / Mike story

I don't blame TJ or his family for transferring.  You get only one college career.  As a matter of fact, if I were his father and he had developed and had grown like he did in high school, it would have been really hard to enroll him at this mess of a program in the first place.  He played with no one here (spare me if you think Clark and Saunders were great or even very good college players) and his junior year it would have been even worse.

Danny Herrera was a prime example of not putting too much stock into highlight videos. That guy looked like an NBA player in those videos. When he got to campus, he was much shorter and more suited for D2 basketball.

Re: Lewis / Mike story

In any event, I wasn't trying to rehash the whole T.J. thing that's been discussed to death here.  I really just wanted to point out Lewis's comment, which wasn't getting any attention but was something I found refreshing in this day & age.
