Offline ...won't be long before you're all wire stories and bail bond ads. Offline I fully understand why the PG is going bankrupt and soon be out of business by looking at the A-holes they hire. Offline OK, Mark Titus looks interesting. But "reliable sources" are saying that Coach K is on campus as we speak. He is interviewing at Duquesne to be head men's basketball coach. He is willing to work for $1 per year. His only perk is to have the Holy Ghost Fathers intercede for him with St. Peter shortly after he dies. He is getting old enough that he is starting to worry about this. Offline If I was an employee at the post gazette I would be seriously embarrassed that my employer was putting out this garbage as journalism. Last edited by Duques102 (3/27/2017 4:56 pm) Offline Spenser, who is the beat reporter, is equally bad. When the players announced their were transferring, Offline In all honesty I find the Mark Titus joke the best thing that's come out of this coaching search so far, a welcome comic relief. I may be biased though cause I've been a fan of his going back to his blog and then Grantland. Offline My parents were at the airport welcoming the NIT champs and they said it existed back then...maybe Pitt domination of local media. Duquesne has had negative coverage for decades. Offline Back in my time as a student, Duquesne got not only fair but good coverage. I remember the press room being filled with guys like Phil Musick, Myron Cope, etc. Of course, Duquesne-Pitt was fairly even in those days. Over the years the combination of chronic losing and chronic bad reporting bit us in the asterisk. Since Ferry was fired, there has been what I can best describe as unwarranted animosity, except for guys like Zachary Weiss and Josh Taylor.

Duquesne University is as much of a Pittsburgh institution as Heinz, PPG, PNC Bank, Westinghouse, Pitt or Carnegie Mellon, have some f****** respect.
I continue to be baffled by the local medias blatant attempt to hinder the progress of this universities basketball program.
I am now thoroughly convinced that with the current local landscape these losers are legitimately worried that Duquesne could surpass Pitt in the coming years with a strong hire and with how much of a disaster that program looks like right now.
Why else would we see these repeated, cynical, and downright classless jabs at the university? Makes me sick. From my experience here, Pittsburgh has always been a place where people respect and defend their own. I don't understand how we got here.
Re: Yuk it up, Post-Gazette...
she wondered, via her twitter, if the band or the mascot would fill the roster. Humorous comment-for a columnist who writes opinions but not a reporter who job is to report the facts.
Both Gentille tongue in cheek piece and Spencer are not the problem. The sports editor is the problem. DU is a significant employer in the city and a significant financial contributor to the city.so I wonder why PG would allow such writing.
Re: Yuk it up, Post-Gazette...
The anti-Duquesne media bias does get irritating though - where does it come from? I'm from philly, maybe a local can enlighten me?
