3 stars, had offers from Akron, WVU, GW, and at least looks from Pitt, Dayton, Xavier. He is a rather large dude

Very good news! We are gonna have some beef in the middle next year with this guy and Hughes.

I got to know Gary Nelson pretty well during my time at the law school. He is president of the alumni association. He told me some funny stories about playing in the bar association basketball league. He said guys used to get really physical and confrontational with him around the basket, and he would tell them "I played in the NBA and ABA, you think I'm gonna allow some punk lawyer to push me around!?"

Reminds me of Kenny Frease from Xavier. Dude used to kill us inside for 4 years. Love the pickup. Big strong and skilled. He's a program builder type recruit.

Reminds me of Luke Harangody or Big Country from okie st years ago.

According to this recent article: "Swingle has offers from several major college programs across the country. This list includes West Virginia, Akron, Bowling Green, George Washington, Ohio State, Pitt and Clemson."

What a great day for Duquesne and a proud day for myself as he is from Southern Ohio around Chillicothe. It is a
small rural high school in the middle of nowhere. Look at the size of this kid 6-10 275,big ole country boy coming
to the big city.Just real happy as I can go 45 miles and see Dylan play, think of the movie Hoosiers and you get a idea
of where he is from.Friday nights in the Chillicothe area, not a lot of entertainment choices, half the town comes out
to watch their teams around that area.High school basketball is serious stuff to a bunch of farmers.
The schools he plays against are small schools ,they are good but rarely do players from these rural schools get
Division 1 offers.

Dylan stood out at the Under Arnour AAU event in NYC last month. This is what they said from article link below
Dylan Swingle, 6’11” Center C2K EliteSwingle is a massive force. The first thing you notice is his wide body. The man—and by every definition, he is a man—is a load underneath and has solid footwork. He needs to work on conditioning.
Schools considering: West Virginia, Akron, George Washington, Dayton, Xavier.

A very nice verbal.
But as you guys are making comparisons let me throw another name out there to curb the enthusiasm a bit - Dan Malignani.

The 70s were a long time ago, recruiting and evaluating talent is easier because of the summer AAU
competition. Dylan has done well in the summer leagues and I love his size.Duquesne beating out a
school like WVU is tremendous.I want to go out and drink some beers tonight and celebrate this good news.GO BLUFFITES.

From PGH SPORTS NOW....
"This was an impressive get for Duquesne because many thought Swingle was a heavy lean towards Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers. Swingle was also talking to Kevin Stallings and Pitt and many believe Pitt were on the verge of offering."

excellent work by the staff.
the positive momentum continues.
just an absolutely stunning difference between the program mojo and momentum now and in the recent past !!!!
onward and upward !!!!

I'm Dylan's HS coach. He loves Coach D and the Duquesne staff, and once he visited and saw the campus and facilities it was an easy decision. You guys are getting a quality kid with a huge upside. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you, coach, for checking in with us and especially your dedication to Dylan. Lucky to have someone like you in his corner.

You're very welcome. There's not a doubt in my mind about Coach D turning things around at Duquesne. You hired the right guy.

Thank you Coach for posting here. As a long time DU fan I am really excited to see what Coach Dambrot is doing, and to welcome Dylan to Duquesne. He is exactly what we need, and I believe he and Duquesne will do great things on "The Bluff".

Exactly how tall would you say he is? I have seen 6'9" to 6'11" reported? Pumped Dylan is a Duke!!!
Offline
Coach, at 300lb and presumably still growing how do you see Dylan running the floor vs quick athletic competition?
Offline
Legitimate question. Dylan is 6-11, 305 and will have no problem getting up and down the floor. I've coached at various levels, including internationally, for 33-years and believe me when I say he's very agile. He has the softest hands and best footwork of any big man I've ever seen. He's also played on two of the top AAU programs in the US, All-Ohio Red and C2K Elite, and has run right with them. He'll be fine.
