Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

RMU seems to fall into good publicity all the time.   And we seem to be the opposite.   Seriously, they get the very last seed in the NIT, and because of an arena scheduling commitment.....they get to use it to their advantage.

Thankfully, their hockey team was knocked out in the quarterfinals of their league.   That will put an end to the constant college hockey updates.

I remember when the RMU hockey team upset some ranked school early in the year.  And Jim Colony on the Fan actually said he wouldn't be surprised if RMU wasn't in the hockey final four.   Well, they didn't even make the NCAA playoffs.

They still only averaged at RMU basketball games about 600 people for conference games.   But the media of this town, LOVES them.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

It's first page news on the Sporting News Website.  Charlotte travels to Providence, UMass hosts talked about possible A-10 furure member Stoney Brook, and St. Joseph's host St. John's (on St. Joseph's Day).

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

Wouldn't you LOVE   to see the faces on some of those "One-ers and Done-ers" from Kentucky when they see the Facility for the first time??   Fortunately it is a short ride from the facility to the airport for after the game when the Wildcats "have their tail between their legs"  (PUN INTENDED) having lost to Bobby Mo!!!!!!!

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

They are already the media darlings.  It would be the final nail in DU's coffin if RMU were to win.

I really hope that every one in DU's athletic  department is just embarrassed beyond belief to cash a pay check.

Be careful there Skeptic, untill Duquesne can get more than about 50-100 students to attend a game, we have nothing to brag about. The RMU crowd is always at least 75% student body and it feels way more like a college atmosphere than the antiseptic atmosphere at the Palumbo.

Lead story everywhere.  Tough day for Duquesne fans.  Sorry, there is no positive spin on this.  Don't know how we can get smacked in the face as a fan base anymore.   Well, if they win, just forget it.   Finally, we put to rest the who is number 2 argument.  The extra salt in the wound of last night.

Now the story goes to ESPN cant hurt RMs recruiting. If coach Toole wins or goes to the wire hes gone. I would also expect their AD  Dr. Coleman would have opportunities.Check out his resume & background Pitt & Penn State school of medicine prior to taking the RM job 8 years ago.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

I don't believe in rooting against anyone, including Pitt and Bobby Mo, except when we play them. I just root for the Dukes to be the best they can be and I think that will be pretty good shortly. If that bothers anyone, well, what can I say.

For me, it is not about rooting for or against them, I honestly don't care about about either Pitt or Robert Morris.    But I just am tired of having to listen about other schools success, excitement, etc, after our headlines are  "Duquesne Women Fail to Earn NCAA Bid"  and "Duquesne Women Stunned By NCAA Tournament"  And "Long Difficult Season comes to an end for Duquesne Men"

Sorry, but I am just tired of reading or hearing about their success and our lack there of.   Just telling the truth.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

When Amodio was hired DU was the doormat of the A10, a laughing stock of college basketball and RMU was beginning to assert their dominance over DU.  Fast forward 7 years we are still the doormat of the A10, still a laughing stock of college basketball, and RMU is having their crowning moment of dominance over Duquesne. Great job Greg.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

I think it's worth putting into perspective that a first round NIT game they didn't even earn is and will be the biggest game Robert Morris ever plays in the Sewell. It honestly doesn't get any better than this for the Colonials at home. They'll never play a regular season home game this interesting ever and this coming from a guy who hates to speak in absolute terms. You can take that for what it's worth, but it's certainly not something I envy them for.

I thought they won the regular season in their conference, thus earning an automatic NIT bid?

But they were an 8th seed so they shouldn't have a home game. My mistake though. It should have read "a first round NIT home game they didn't even earn" to convey my intended point. They certainly earned a trip to the NIT.

Amodio is a failure in his role as AD.

I understand now, thanks for the clarification.  No harm, no foul.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

They are everything we aren't.   This will be talked about for years.   This is better for them than going to the NCAA tournament and losing.  They just gained a lot more fans and more publicity.

It is like the our irrelevance in the A10.  It didnt come over night.  Piece by piece, little by little we became the doormat.

Same thing happened with RMU.  Piece by piece, little by little they are taking our role.   And all we can do is sit around and watch it happen.

But I am sure, someone will come on to say.  We aren't number 3.  We aren't irrelevant.   This is just a fluke by them.   They don't have fans.   They don't have the better program.

I am going to do my best to take a long break from posting. I know that I anger alot of people. I I really don't mean to.   All I want for this school is success.  We just have the wrong people in charge and I just need a long break.

Please, please someone do the right thing.  Cut our losses.  FIRE AMODIO!!

Peace.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

RoMo will get 5 years of wear on the pictures, videos, energy of tonight. There is no doubt we are #3 in this town and i thank the listless leaders of the Duq program over the decades for all we're enduring. Worse than the worst medieval torture device

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

Boston College is still showing Flutie's pass to Phelan from 29 yeras ago.  You can bet RMU will show this forever.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

they should relive it forever.  But 2 things stuck out to me about why RMU was able to beat UK.  1) foul shooting, 14-14, with 2 coming with 8 secs left in a tie game.  What are the odds anyone in the last 10 years at DU made those two?  And 2) RMU has a workout program, their guards are built, you can see they have strong upper bodies.  Our guys are stick figures compared to them.  Not hard to see why they beat us this year, or in the recent past.  They have a program.  We have 12 guys wearing the same jerseys.

Kentucky cared about that game as much as I did.  But I tip my cap to RMU, great night for them and they deserve all the positives from beating last years NCAA champs.

Amodio should not be able to sleep tonight, or if he does, he better have nightmares.

Re: Kentucky playing at Bobby Mo

Michael DeCourcy‏@tsnmike25m“@aprince27: fair to say they've passed Duquesne as the #2 school in town?” Nah, but made 6-8 NCAAs since Dukes there in 77.

Matt Madore‏@madoreable35m@Dejan_Kovacevic if it wasn't clear before, it is now undeniable that RMU has passed Duquesne as the second best sports school in the city

Cory Owens‏@co43038mMaybe Pitt should play RMU in the city game instead of Duquesne

Chad Roland‏@chad_roland53m@colin_dunlap Duquesne cut lots of sports, including wrestling to become relevant in basketball and football.... Are they any closer? NO!

los brandon‏@blyle12x21hRobert Morris has certainly leapfrogged Duquesne from an athletic department perception standpoint

Bryan‏@PittScript1hRT @pittcabe: The only school that might feel worse than Kentucky about this game is Duquesne

And a ton more like this on twitter!!!!
