When he committed to Dayton last year someone posted this information on the A10 Board.

This kid looks like he has all the PG skill sets, plus he can sky.  Look like a steal for the Dukes assuming his academics are in order.  Getting Severe or Notice would make for great recruiting class.  We should hear if we are in Severe's final cut tonight.

My fingers are crossed on Severe and or Notice.  I am with you on this CLK, if we land either of those two this class is shaping up better than I think most of us expected.  Go Dukes!

P.S. I sent a private response to you on another matter.

Nice vert leaping. Won't have as much time in the A10 to shoot his 3s.  I am happy

Re: Desmond Ridenour on Official Visit To Duquesne - Update - He Committed

So who's being kicked out? to use Steve's favorite expression. We had three slots with two seniors and PJ Torres leaving. Now we have two commits and a LOI and possibly 1-2 more on the way. Come on, Mr. Blue Sky and Steve, if you want us to like you guys, start sharing a little information. My guess is that Datt and Pantophlet and being told that there's no room for them. Maybe Martin too. Jones and Abele are going to be seniors. Martins has already sat out part of a year and transferred once, and I think despite Ferry b*tchin' about him in the press and sitting him down a couple games, he realizes 7-footers don't grow on trees and in fact come in handy against some teams.

Why would I think you don't like me?

No idea who it will be. Just speculation.

Re: Desmond Ridenour on Official Visit To Duquesne - Update - He Committed

I thought I heard that more than one recruit was visiting this weekend.  Anyone know if this is true or not? I hope that Severe sees that Pitt already signed one guard and Dixon, although I think he is a good Coach, doesn't exactly extol offensive freedom.  JS you would shine here and got lots of minutes, which I don't think would happen at Pitt, and much exposure.  DNotice the same goes for you, no way S. Carolina would give you this playing time opportunity.  Go Dukes!!!

How does this affect Coulter?  Coulter had some good games and some not so good-just like most freshmen.

Re: Desmond Ridenour on Official Visit To Duquesne - Update - He Committed

Coulter was overhyped last year, and nimrods like me fell for it. With him at the helm, the Dukes cranked out more turnovers than a Dutch bakery with surplus apples. I don't know if it's just out of control play, or he's that bad, or what. I hope Ridenour is better. I had been told that the Dukes were recruiting a JUCO point who came out of NYC who I really thought would be the "next level" floor leader the Dukes need to improve next year, and I guess this means he's off the board for us. Doesn't mean Ridenour won't end up being better, but for now, I'm a little disappointed. We need both Notice AND Severe next season. Like I said earlier though, this means more guys will be booted off the program, which used to be a problem but I guess now is OK.

Also, what about the 7-footer we're supposed to be recruiting? Why isn't he even on any of the radar screens? Or was someone pulling my leg?

I too am waiting to see what happens on this board if/when guys are forced to leave. I, like you, am pretty sure it will be OK if Coach Ferry does it. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind if it's done to improve the team as long as the players getting the boot are helped by the coach to find an appropriate place to play on scholarship.

I've had to scratch my head so often over some of this stuff, I've pretty much dug out a canoe.

Re: Desmond Ridenour on Official Visit To Duquesne - Update - He Committed

I don't have a huge problem with a couple of additional players leaving provided they're not players Ferry brought in and that this recruiting class isn't more than 5 members.

With the need for ballhandling, I wouldn't be surprised if that JUCO PG you're talking about is still a target along with Severe and Notice. Of course, I'm about ready to cross Notice off the list with how impressed he seem with SC.

There is a difference between getting rid of players you inherited, and running off your own guys. RE pretty much ran off all of the bums Nee left him, and I had no problem with it. A new coach deserves a chance to get his own guys in there. It's hard to expect Ferry to be hamstrung by terrible players that he played no part in bringing in.

Re: Desmond Ridenour on Official Visit To Duquesne - Update - He Committed

And what was the difference between Everhart small ball and Ferry small ball? Except that one system worked for five years?

Re: Desmond Ridenour on Official Visit To Duquesne - Update - He Committed

This is a lose-lose argument. If Ferry succeeds, it'll be in a lesser competitive A10 conference. The RE vs Ferry argument will persist into infinity.  I don't mind the banter, just highlighting the conundrum.

Everhart small ball worked ok when he had some talent and experience. Blame your boy , Mr TJ, for leaving him with so little of both. I guess Donovan Jack would have led us to the Sweet 16 like he did Perv State. C'mon man, please tell me how Ferry was going to win with the collection of "talent" on this team? Coach K couldn't have coaxed a winning record out of this group. Judge Ferry after he gets his guys in here. I know no one wants to be patient after 40 years of crap, but that's what we're going to have to be.
