A message to local fans.....

http://www.goduquesne.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/121917aaa.html

For those who have never seen the post game video please watch the press conference with Mike and Kellon followed by Dambrot, there are always fantastic bits of insight shared in these clips...

If you listen to Dambrots last comment, he calls out the fans in a similar way that he calls out his players (constructively). If we are going to have a championship level program we need a championship level home court advantage.

Please, if you are local and are not currently attending games, please come out and support the Dukes! This early part of the season should be evidence enough, things are changing!

Let's put butts in the seats and cheer on our Dukes!!!

Re: A message to local fans.....

As the culture on the part of the players needed and still needs a change so does the culture for the students. Most of the fans attending the games are adults. The issue will be and is the students. We can all remember when they won the students would attend. This winning streak took place over the break. I think the Dayton game will even be at the break on 12/30. The last coach developed a resurgence of a losing environment and culture. That will take time to change. Hopefully there will be conference wins when the students return. That is over half the battle. Unlike Pitt football which stinks and doesn’t have a stadium on campus, the Duquesne students can at least walk to the games. That will help. We just have To be  competitive this year, hopefully win  50% of the conference games, and the attendance should pick up.
I would like to wish everyone a Blessed and Merry Christmas!

Re: A message to local fans.....

Winning will solve the attendance challenges.  The Team needs to win back the hearts of this generation of student body.
Great to hear KD reference the ghosts of old, but this program needs to create their own version of history, including Mossie like fan fun and passion.

I was in NYC over the weekend with the Family (Santa @ Macy's, Rockettes at Radio City, Rockefeller Center ...)
I am in Bryant Park on Sunday afternoon in line to buy a hot chocolate for my girls.
I turn around and the person behind me is wearing a Duquesne knit hat.
I ask her "Are you a DU grad?"
She says "No - my sister is a Senior" and points left.
I say, "I am a 1990 grad.  Do you get to Men's Hoops games & what is the vibe on campus?"
She says " I have to go to games.  I am on the crew team and we work as Ushers."

While student support is lacking, attendance as a whole is the problem. If it wasn't the two upper level seating areas wouldn't be empty. We need more support across the board.

Remember it's also break. The full band is pretty big and pre break, the student section was at least decently occupied and appeared to be growing....
