Offline Just saw this. We are starting to get the attention of folks. Offline Back to Red Manning's Dukes we have had a strong record playing The Irish, let's hope that continues. Offline That's exciting news! Just listened to Brey's radio show clip of this. Sounds like the game will be over thanksgiving. I also saw Brandon Wade's dad tweet about the Dukes supposedly playing in Hawaii over Christmas next year. I assume that that would be in the Diamond Head Classic at the U of Hawaii. Tournament usually has top mid major programs and a few P5 teams. Exciting times. Offline The Diamond Head announced next year's field and it includes URI so that would eliminate us and the rest of the A-10 from participating. I'm interested in seeing the Dukes play in these type of tournaments and enjoyed myself in Vegas this year so I've been looking at the tournaments that haven't been filled or don't have an A-10 team in it. Just saw that. Not sure what he was referring to then. That tournament in Alaska used to be fun to watch, but I'm not sure if it stills exists. I'm a big fan of the holiday tournaments. You get to play teams you don't normally see and it's good preparation for the conference tournament. Offline Great Alaska Shootout is no more. They announced this year would be the last one. I think ESPN basically killed it when the organizers butted heads with them on how to run it etc. It was right there in stature with Maui and the NIT as a youngster. Most memorable for me was K-Mart and Cincy giving '99 Duke their lone loos oft he regular season on a home run pass for a dunk Offline Dukes are 5-2 all time vs. Notre Dame: Last edited by PhoenixRising2 (1/05/2018 2:14 pm) Offline Dukes are 5-2 all time vs. Notre Dame: Digger wasn't there in 1971 though. Fordham had a monster season in 1971, and Digger was the coach. That season at Fordham is what got him the ND job. Austin Carr was the big ND star in 1971, Johnny Dee was the coach at ND. After losing to us, ND went and beat UCLA in their next game. UCLA wouldn't lose again for 3 years. Offline ND will invite us, I assume there is no hesitation on accepting that invite. Correct? Offline About 15 years ago I was in a conference related to my position at PNC. Everyone had a name card. I scanned the room and saw one of the gentlemen was Dwight Clay. Dwight was heavily recruited out of, I believe, the defunct Fifth Avenue H.S. I introduced myself at the end of the conference. We talked for a good 30 minutes. He said he didn't remember Duquesne beating N.D. but clearly remembered breaking UCLA's 88 game streak. We both howled at that as I accused him of selective memory. I told him I was there along with about 12,000 other fans. Very nice guy. Never saw him again but I'll remember that conversation always. Last edited by KenOTR73 (1/08/2018 7:47 pm) Offline Clay hit the jumper that beat UCLA. He indeed went to 5th Ave., as did Duke Denny Cuff, and Sam Clancy, who won a state title there in 1976, the last year the school was open.

I remember a John Carrol squad pulling an upset at South Bend, and there were others, however unlikely.
A diehard fan since 1961

The list I see thus far (all around Thanksgiving):
The Islands of Bahamas (tourney Duquesne was rumored to be a part of this season)
Paradise Jam in Virgin Islands - Was played at Liberty this season. Only three teams announced thus far
MGM Resorts Main Event (T-Mobile Arena in Vegas)
Cancun Challenge
Also as the "under card teams" for those Gazelle Group run events like CBE/Hall of Fame, Barclays Classic etc (no thanks) or possibly the Vancouver Showcase next season (probably unlikely).

1970 L 88-62 Neutral (Chicago Stadium) - Manning
1971 W 81-78 OT Home - Manning
1972 W 84-79 Away - Manning
1973 W 81-72 Home - Manning (3-1)
1993 W 80-76 3OT Away - Carroll
1994 W 75-63 Home - Carroll

Crybaby Digger didn't want to renew the series after the 3 straight victories by the Dukes.
