Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

The officiating in this game is reminding me of that one game in Hoosiers

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

This is hard to watch. Once again, really poor officiating.

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Up 7 at the half. Would have been more had Fordham not hit that 30-foot desperation three towards the end of the half. Not bad considering Lewis and Williams haven't gotten it going yet.

Wally Szczerbiak! Wally’s grandparents were Ukrainians. Met in a refugee camp in West Germany after WWII and settled in Pittsburgh. I love Wikipedia.

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

10 for 10 from the FT line. Defense suffocating as usual. Fordham outmanned.

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Great effort on defense today. EW and ML never got going offensively, yet still a 20+ point win on the road. This team continues to improve.

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Great game from Rene. J-Rob was huge in the first half, Tarin stood out to me as well.

Injuries and limited offensive talent or not from Fordham, awesome effort on defense from everyone! Full-on effort and totally snuffed them out in their house. Rose Hill was dead silent down the stretch.

Can't wait for Tuesday. If you have Comcast, it'll be on "Stadium" channel 198.

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Watched the game at BW3 Sugarland near Houston. Tried to get Ray and Jarrett on my laptop but the radio feed was about a minute behind!

Wow, just wow is all I can say.  Lead by seven at the half and then come out flying and just pound Fordham. I don't think Fordham got their first point of the second half until about the thirteen minute mark!

What a great win!  Keep it up boys!

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

WOW!!!

Offense sells tickets - Defense wins titles!!!  Even though Fordham was banged up some - this was as solid as a defensive effort as I've EVER seen -

APPRECIATE IT THAT IS WAS BASIC SOLID FUNDAMENTAL DEFENSE - Not too much chasing around, waving arms etc. - just being between your man and the hoop - securing the rebounds --  not committing cheap fouls etc.

And most of the time when DU blocked a shot - DU got the ball!!! - just the way Ole' Bill Russell tried to do it - NOT wild swats out of bounds etc.

KEEP IT ROLLIN FELLAS!!

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Simply amazing. It's not so much they waaaaaaay better than expected record as it is the ways in which this team is winning. 90% of the good play is repeatable & a shocking share of the winning has been achieved without the best scorer scoring his best.

Forgive me for speaking ill of the departed but, what the hell did Ferry do to JRob, Rene, & Tarin that so thoroughly sucked the life out of them.

I know this would take a PR miracle, but, better than halfway through his first season KD should be NATIONAL coach of the year. I defy any pundit to point out a coach that has done a better job.

As the Bard would have it, I come to bury Jim Ferry, not to praise him, but to give the Devil his due, Ferry never realized that if you don't have the top notch offensive talent in the A 10, but you needed to stress defense. Ferry was a system coach. He had his system that worked at a lower level, but not at a mid major level like the A 10.  His passive, let them walk it up the court style just did not play here.

I could swear I saw Terry Teachout in a grey Duke's Hoodie sitting behind the bench!!   Anyone else notice what I did?

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Mike Lewis had another off night shooting the ball, but he had 7 rebounds and two steals. He is becoming a well-rounded player that is able to contribute when he is not scoring. The player development under this staff has been incredible.

Re: Game Thread: @ Fordham

Any thoughts on what happened to Chartouny this afternoon?   He was non-existent?  Turnovers.  Missed bunnies.  Did not score a point until under the 5min mark of Ithe 2nd half.  He usually lights us up with career numbers.
Was it the defense?  New Coach?

Anyway - was amazing to see that defense.  Was beginning to think we’d see a Fordham goose egg in the 2nd half box score.

Was at the game tonight - a really enjoyable game to watch and a great win. Quite a bit of Dukes gear in the stands as well.

Go Dukes!
