Offline He's interviewing there. I think he should be patient. There's a better job out there for him. Offline Siena is actually a very good move for him. Good coaches win there, and you can jump from there to a good BCS level job. Any BCS job he might get coming from RMU is going to be a garbage job like Rutgers, where he'll be fired in four years. You mean Duquesne not Rutgers going to the Big-10 without a doubt #1 conference in America great schools . Offline The Big10 is a good conference, but Rutgers is an awful job. No one has done well there except for Tom Young. If Rutgers was a good job, why didn't they win while playing in the BE, which has been a better conference than the Big 10? Siena has a track record of being a springboard to good jobs. Mike Deane, Louis Orr, Paul Hewitt, and Fran McCaferty all came from Siena. Now name a coach who moved from Rutgers to a better job. LaSalle doing well this actually cheered me up, because we know if they can do it, so can we. Offline duq81, if I have to explain the jokes, then they're not funny. Offline duq81, if I have to explain the jokes, then they're not funny. I agree. Can't wait to get him out of Bobby Mo. He just has to be careful that he doesn't step on a land mine as far as which program he goes to. John Beilein probably did as good a job as you can do carefully climbing the ladder. After a couple of non D1 jobs, he went to Canisius, a decent low level mid major where expectations are realistic. Then to Richmond, a high level mid, with a track record of success. Then to WVU, a school with a solid winning tradition. Finally, he went to Michigan, a place where you can win a National Championship. You notice, not a Minnesota, or USC in the bunch. Siena would be a great stepping stone for him. Kudos to the Bobby Mo AD he has got it going in Moon Township. Offline Kudos to the Bobby Mo AD he has got it going in Moon Township. Think of this though. He hired Danny Nee. Would he be such a genius, if we hadn't taken Nee off of his hands? Us taking Nee is what led him to hire Schmidt, which in turn led to Rice, and then Toole. Had we left Nee alone, he might have sunk their program instead of ours. What a favor we did for them. Offline Kudos to the Bobby Mo AD he has got it going in Moon Township. Think of this though. Andy Toole to Siena?
I almost said "Maybe ours in a couple of years," but if that's the case, we may as well go D3.

ED, Vitale never coached Rutgers. My point is, that coming from RMU, Toole is never going to jump directly to a plum BCS job. It's either going to be a mid major, or a crap BCS job where few have been successful. Looking at the track record, Siena has proven to be a very good place for coaches who would like to climb the ladder. Schools like Rutgers, and Northwestern have not, despite being in top leagues.
Re: Andy Toole to Siena?
I agree with you about the Rutgers job. It's been pretty close to a career killer for a lot of guys (Gary Waters), although they've also made a lot of mistakes (Kevin Bannon). I can't imagine a school with more advantages, Lots of money, good facilities, fertile recruiting area from NYC to Philly, big time conference. Tom Young took them to a Final Four when we were in HS. Pat Foster, who has coached at 200 of the 350 D1 programs, also coached there once.
I wasn't thinking Big East or Big 10, or anything else in particular. Toole gets guys no one ever heard of and they play tough. I think he's got a great career ahead of him.

No kidding! Dr. Hofacre must be resting in peace knowing that her decision led to great things at RMU.
