Offline Not meant to eclipse CLK's post on signings, just trying to assess the roster. Right now we have: Last edited by ElDuque (4/17/2013 4:36 pm) Offline Updated PG article, at least the headline reads better. Also of note he mentions Mason possibly receiving a waiver to play next season. Offline Saw that. We could sure use Mason. Who needs Colter chucking them up at a 30% clip? Offline Colter can have a soph slump or worse -- turn into kojo mensah. Micah may well get a waiver but he shouldn't. His med issue is alleviated with a proper diet. A proper diet can be fixed at Drake, in Offline Just for the record ... I get accused of being negative, of not talking about the recruits, of always bringing up the past, etc. Offline Just for the record ... I get accused of being negative, of not talking about the recruits, of always bringing up the past, etc. Back to the incoming players, perhaps with the stronger guard play Colter will not be in there 35 mins and tire and get sloppy. Also with true size and muscle inside Ferrys style of play can be executed , I think with a favorable OCC and a chance to get some early wins will give Dukes momentum going into a-10 play. Offline Just wondering if Mamadou Datt will have an expanded role next season. Also wondering if coach Rhodes lobbied to keep him recognizing a greater potential for the future. Offline Recruiting has gotten a little quiet. The two of four latest prospects I mentioned in the recruiting thread are gaining significant BCS school interest. Offline I'm in El Duq; I think Colter will be even better next year with the more balanced scoring and size lineup. A sophmore jinx can happen, as Jeralta points out, but from what you hear about Colter he is a real gym rat who loves working on his game. I also think if Mason can get eligible (wouldn't it be nice to get a favorable ruling from NCAA) that would be an immense help due to his outside shooting threat - especially when you have two penetrating point guards in Colter and White. I suspect we'll see one or two more signings and my guess is that the staff would like some more experienced beef in the middle and after that maybe it is simply get a good player or hold back the scholie. You never know and thinking back on it, we any of us tuned into Ridenour getting signed??? I believe we were on Robinson's list so that was public and TWhite was known as a possible target before he signed too. My point is that sometimes you really don't know until they tell you, but I am excited!! Offline At this point, my starting line up would be Colter, White, Jeremiah, Soko and Robinson, but I'm hoping Ferry finds a grad transfer or JUCO to play at the 3. I've seen two of Robinson's games and three of Watkins. Robinson appears to have more polish and a better body at the moment that could put him a step ahead now even if I believe Watkins has more upside over 4 years. That said I think both will share minutes. Offline I hope Robinson is the tough, inside physical presence we've been hearing about. Soko looks like a tough kid but he doesn't have Robinson's beef. I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I think Abele will be missed against teams with beastly centers because he could hold his own at least defensively. With Robinson, Watkins and Soko, I think we at least have strength in numbers. Datt will give us some depth up front if his wheels hold up. Offline Let's hope we're not living in a real-life version of the movie "Groundhog Day". With no big man in any of these potential lineups, can we expect anything different in the upcoming season compared to what we witnessed last year. I hope I'm wrong, but we're probably a few years away from a .500 season. Offline Steve, Offline Steve, I've never been very concerned about guard head height. I think it's a nice luxory when you can get it. I also think it's worth noting that White did grab 5.4 rebounds a game last year. He's 5'10'' but weights 190 lbs so he's not exactly a little dude. Last edited by steve19981 (4/19/2013 12:22 pm) Offline ...presuming that is what they measure when they get here. Some day, we'll see that happen in the NCAA! Offline El Duque - your lineup guess as good as any I can imagine. Truth is that after five consecutive non losing seasons under Everhart, we are headed downhill once again. Perhaps another 40 years of bad hoops on horizon. Read up on this class real close and you will know that single digit wins are again quite likely. The program was returning - maybe too slowly for some - but WAS returning. Now, we are a joke once more for a long time Offline El Duque - your lineup guess as good as any I can imagine. Now, we are a joke once more for a long time Cheer up disgustedalum. No 40 years in the wilderness, not ever. This program is on the way back and with more young talent than it has seen in a few years. Way ahead of this time last year!! Don't dispair. Things are never as bad as they may seem. Offline Hey, Andrew Wiggins is still unsigned and I hear we have the inside track!!!!! Offline Thanks but no cheering up needed. Just stating facts - the Amodio/Ferry regime has destroyed what was five years of at least competitive basketball. Ten wins tops again this year - and as long as they are in charge Offline OMG, here we go again on the same old issue!!! Most posters, even though we have disagreed on the Amodio/Ron/Ferry matters, have generally agreed to move on. Can we at least try to look forward and allow the cards to fall where they may? Even those of us who have disagreed on that subject seem to all agree that if within 2 years we don't see sustainable program achievement we've had it. Offline Oh, and I'll willing to bet $500.00 that we top 10 wins if you are so sure we are going to stink disgustedalum!!! I'll meet you at the Red Ring with $500 in hand and you do the same before the first game. We'll let a neutral party hold the $$$. Are you in????? You guys buy me dinner and a drink at the Red Ring, and I'll be glad to hold the money for that wager! I'm very trustworthy. Offline Sorry, the Red Ring gave last call five minutes ago. Offline Thanks but no cheering up needed. Just stating facts - the Amodio/Ferry regime has destroyed what was five years of at least competitive basketball. Ten wins tops again this year - and as long as they are in charge Here we go with the Ferry bashing again. Do us a favor, and don't come around when the nice recruits we have coming in start to win big. Of course you will be a coward and register under another name. Offline I know this will be an upopular opinion, but I think people ought to be allowed to say what they want here, within the boundaries of decorum, without fear of being ripped to shreds. My skin is thick so I'll certainly continue to say what I think needs to be said, but if Duquesne fans or alumni (or both) are finding this site and looking for their opportunity to vent, then their voice should be heard. Especially if they're new to the board.

Hawaii or on the Bluff. This would set a precedent and any player with juvenile diabetes can tranfer with a waiver even though this condition can be monitored through injections and diet. Same deal.

Re: Fleshing out the roster, and next season's projected lineup
Gabe Levin (the former Hofstra recruit) is now being looked at by Duke & Michigan. I do not see him in the category of a likely commit to DU at this point, but would loved to be proven wrong.
Errick Peck - Senior Eligible transfer Cornell 6'6" forward is being hotly pursed by Boston College. I put him into the same category as Levin.
Charles LG Gill 6'6" forward is a possibility but according to this article wants to go to James Madison.
Michael Wolfe the 6'8" forward who was a Layola recruit is still out there but have not seen anything more.
I am sure JF and company are out there beating the bushes. I would think that he is considering all options, freshman, juco & transfer. In my opinion our biggest need at this point is getting a quality SF. With Levin and Peck sniffing the rare air and possibly out of reach, I think Gill would be a tremendous pick up and the kind of SF we need. We will have to wait and see how this plays out.

As much as I chide Colter, I do admit that he has upside if he can get his game under control. Especially if he learns to attack the rim more. It will be interesting to see him and White in combination because on paper they look similar. I certainly don't know what to make of Ridenour. There isn't much info out there about him, and what I see is a little mixed.
With the spots we still have open, I think we may need to address flexibility on the wing. The Jones Bros. are really the only guys we have who could roll between the 2 and 3.

The only thing with that lineup is that you have two 5'10" guards on the floor at the same time and I am not sure that is a good thing, unless you are really getting pressed and have a hard time getting it up the floor. I think some of it depends on how well Ridenour handles the ball.

Lauren,
If you look around the league, 6'8'' or 6'9'' post players are the norm in the A10.

As of this moment, we are still #3 in the city of Pittsburgh and #16 in the A-10. Nice recruiting class aside, that has not changed. So it seems unfair to me that someone comes here to express their dissatisfaction with that, and they're treated like idiots. They're not idiots.
Next season is a pivotal one for the entire athletic program. I don't think we should endure:
1. Another humiliating season of men's basketball.
2. Another poor season of football.
3. A step back in women's basketball.
I'm not bashing any individuals or calling for any scalps. But I'll say that underperformance in these areas should not be grounds to renew the AD's contract, despite what Charlie, Greg, or anyone who posts here thinks. •Thread Starter
