Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

Whatever the hell consistency is in haslametics we are behind Fordham!  Everything else we are pretty much ahead.  Just play hard, don't get big headed, and stay healthy.  Go Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

Another outstanding analytical report by PR2.  I personally find it to be too much information but that is because I have deluged myself in numbers my whole career.  I just want to say, though, how thrilled I am to see a thread about basketball.  Especially about the next game only!  The postings recently on this board are fine but a lot of it is not conversation I will take part in.  I will be at PPG tomorrow night and nothing else will matter.  Again, that is me and I hope everyone  - even those who post what I don’t care for negativity wise - will find time to cherish this season as I am doing.  PR2.  - thanks so much for the work you do on this.  I think it is absolutely wonderful - even it sounds like I take a pass on it!!!  Go Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

Stay focused on the current opponent, shoot average or better percentages, minimize offensive rebounds for the Rams, commit 13 or fewer turnovers, & this should be a blowout. This one should not require a Herculean effort. That is a huge step in the right direction.

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

Seems like as long as we don't turn the ball over we'll be fine. This team shouldn't have any problems with Fordham at all. Keep your heads in the game and go Dukes!

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

Could be a low scoring game. Fordham leads A-10 in scoring defense allowing 60.7 pts. per game and they don't light it up on offense either.

That's mostly a product of Fordham being one of the 15 slowest pace teams in the country.

As mentioned in another thread, they're pretty banged up on top of already being bad to begin with.

Chuba Ohams - top rebounder/scorer is out

Antwon Portley - PG and 2nd scorer has missed the last 4 games
Erten Gazi - starter and solid contributor/scorer missed the last game as well

We dont know the status of the last 2 guys as of now, but if Duquesne starts with a big run, it might be ugly quickly

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

Here's a game day story from Dave Mackall at the Trib.
https://triblive.com/sports/surging-duquesne-faces-fordham-next-in-bid-for-5-0-start-in-atlantic-10/

yak-rbc, it's going to be hard for a team (Fordham) to score many points if, as you pointed out, their tempo is extremely slow (339th in the country) combined with bad offensive efficiency (342nd in the country) going up against a good defensive team.  The Dukes goal tonight should be to hold this team to under 50 points.

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

They shot 40 of their 54 field-goal attempts from behind the arc against St. Bonaventure. They're probably going to do that tonight, too. Here's hoping they don't make a truckload (and considering they shoot it at .309, they shouldn't). Get out on the shooters, box out, stay patient, win going away.

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

I am being Captain Obvious here, but our ability to defend at the rim is the key to our defensive efficiency.  Mike Hughes, Bailey and Marcus have been outstanding this season. Quietly Mike has become the #7 shot blocker in the nation.  This along with our ability to consistently score inside is what differentiates this years team.

Dukes better get it together. This would be a season wrecking loss. Still early, but yuck!

Re: Game Thread - Fordham Rams (H)

This was the game that I finally came into with no worries about coming out with a win. Won't happen again. I've learned my lesson.
