Frankly there have been rumblings about Lamar being influenced to transfer by a family member since his freshman year. I kept hoping he would fill out his body some and that added strength would be the ticket for his improvement. I was hoping he would grasp the ample opportunities he was given to start at the 2-guard and own that spot until he graduated. For one reason or another that never happened. I think perhaps that KD’s short leash on him may have resulted in the transfer. I imagine Lamar would say he was being yanked before he could get into the flow of the game; but it didn’t appear that he was impacting the games much though he started the majority of them. I thought he played too timidly to be a starting guard. Unfortunately, I think his transfer helped to trigger Sincere’s decision to leave since they were friends. Step back from the ledge my friend. That was my interpretation too My take was he meant the 3 best players we have as of today. Hughes, Weathers and TDM.

Someone wrote this on another thread tonight:
"Right now it looks like it will take a couple years to rebuild this team to start winning again.I hope I am
wrong.Okani and Harris look promising and hopefully Austin is back but our 3 best players will be gone.
We desperately need a point guard and a couple outside shooters."
Just when we were ready to take the next step, a team ranked in the top 100, even ahead of Pitt, and (Covid aside because everyone has had to deal with this), three players who we cheered and loved and counted on, just decide, "Nope, I am what's most important, not the team," failing to show any sense of loyalty and decide to up and leave!
And Lucy pulls the football away again and we are back to being loser A-10 bottom-feeder Duquesne and we are going to have to gear up for another Stalinesqe five year plan!
Just sick and tired of this!

I think he was referring to Weathers, Hughes, and Carry with the “3 best players” comment.
