Just got word that former Duquesne all world linebacker is starting for the Steelers at long snapper. Typically the 3rd pre season game is the closest to the regular season out of all the pre season games and this doesn't mean he has won the job but he clearly has given the starter a run for his money! He would be the first Duquesne football player on the Steelers regular season roster since the 1950s I believe!!! Go 46 and make a tackle after the snap! A nice first half for Christian. Looked like his 5 snaps (1 Punt, 2 XP, and 2 FG) were clean; Boswell's kicks were successful and Harvin had a 50 yard punt. The competition is close for that spot on the roster; hope #46 is having that kind of success day in and day out at practice. Love to see him snapping in Buffalo for the first game. Hope that Ray Fittipaldo is right on his projection: Thanks for sharing Phoenix and I think Ray makes the case we have been and we shall soon find out! He definitely has them considering it as he has survived this far and now down to the final cut. Judge, here’s a good article on the competition that is taking place between Christian and Canaday. Q. Usually it's not really much of a competition for the long-snapper job, but it seems you really have a competition going this summer. You used Christian Kuntz early in the game against the Detroit Lions last week. Is that a competition that's going to come down to tonight?
A. Let me put it this way: Two years ago, we were playing in this game, and Christian had a sack in this game as an outside linebacker. He prides himself on being a football player. He asked if he could play some outside linebacker. We said absolutely not, because in this camp, he's a legitimate, viable candidate for the snapper position. It has been extremely competitive, and he and Kameron Canaday will have an opportunity to put an exclamation point on their work tonight.
