Busting Brackets Article - Projected Starting Line Up

Tristan Freeman on Twitter: "With so much roster turnover this offseason, who are the key players for Duquesne Basketball in 2021-22? Here's my look at the Dukes' potential lineup and overall rotation. https://t.co/xuL1vki8Yy" / Twitter

I think my projection would be

PG  Acuff    Johnson  Spears
SG  Ayers   Acuff   Spears
SF  Okani  Ayers  Gunn
PF  Easley  Gunn  Okani
  C  Williams  Rotroff Gunn

Things could change by mid season, but the Dukes have a lot of talented interchangeable parts.  All of these guys will get substantial minutes

Re: Busting Brackets Article - Projected Starting Line Up

Both lineups look good to me but personally, I go with Johnson
Acuff
Easley
Okani
Williams

No reflection on Ayers - I like him.

I also agree with those saying Gunn will be a sleeper

Re: Busting Brackets Article - Projected Starting Line Up

Again like many Duquesne teams in the modern era, they will be challenged from a size perspective, so they will have to be scrappy and get more than their share of loose balls and 50/50 balls in order to compete.  No mention in the article of Hima? Did I miss something or is he still a member of the team?  I was hoping he could start to earn a few minutes per game this year.  I guess he may be one of those bigs that we never see as a player.
Guards should all get a lot of playing time since the team is rather short on bodies at the guard spots.  As the author noted; the team will be in big trouble if the two freshman guards can't handle the competition at this level.  As we have seen numerous times, this is more likely than not to be the case. So we'll see a lot more of Mike Bekelja this season; not to be critical of the young man, but if he does play big minutes for us he will need to figure how to score a bit more.  I do think his experience will be helpful at times.
It looks like an interesting collection of players, but it remains to be seen if they can build any kind of cohesion in such a short time.  I wish them luck and as always hope for success against my better judgement.

Yours is a solid, level-headed assessment given the information available.

I will never understand this program's penchant for secrecy & obfuscation regarding player status & scholarships. Mum was the word all last year on Hima until we learned he somehow redshirted in the year without redshirts. Now, more of the same. There have been far too many similar situations over the last 5 years.
