Offline 2:00pm EST tip on Saturday 12/17/2022 at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, Pittsburgh, PA Offline Offline Interesting betting analysis of game today. Larry Bird U apparently lives off the 3 ball. Hopefully, the coaching staff & team continue to maintain the defensive intensity & scheme which was very successful against DePaul. I can’t believe Indiana State is as deep & athletic as this years Dukes. Grind the Sycamores into the floor with defense 24/7. Go Dukes. Offline This analysis does trouble me more than a little. We do not fare particularly well against fast paced teams. Can the Dukes dictate the tempo and slow things down and play the D that they displayed against DePaul? If I were a betting man, I may have to put my money on the Sycamores. Teams that live by the 3 often die by the 3 though and I'm not a betting man so LET'S GO DUKES! Last edited by El Presidente (12/17/2022 8:25 am) Offline I have always subscribed to the Teddy Roosevelt philosophy "If you believe you can you're halfway there". This is another good opportunity for the Dukes to make a statement. Go Dukes! Offline This analysis does trouble me more than a little. We do not fare particularly well against fast paced teams. Teams that live by the 3 often die by the 3 though and I'm not a betting man so LET'S GO DUKES! The Dukes have played 4 games where the tempo (possessions) was over 70 (fast paced); they have split those 4 games. Two of the games were talent mismatches - the Kentucky loss and South Carolina State win. The other 2 were Colgate win and Marshall loss. In both of these games, the Dukes defense was subpar, allowing 1.1+ points per possession. But they were able to overcome this against Colgate with good shooting; against Marshall, poor shooting and turnovers led to the loss. Offline Here is hoping that we can contain the 3.s and shoot better percentage of our own. Offline This analysis does trouble me more than a little. The Marshall game showed the Dukes killing themselves in the first half, but out-played Marshall by adjusting in the second half. If KD approaches this game like the second half of the Marshall game then the Dukes can win. Offline -Marshall is better coached & a 18-23 KenPom notches better team every night than the Dukes. Marshall's large experience advantage & mobility of bigs were crucial. Offline No sight of Kevin Easley today. Offline No sight of much good basketball today yet either! Offline Game started at 2. Online! We can only play better. Maybe? Offline Got home, saw 30-28 thought it was a mistake. 😂 Offline That's doing it the hard way!!! Offline 3 by Clark from left side was key. Good FT shooting finished them off. Offline 3 by Clark from left side was key. Good FT shooting finished them off. Must be something to that!! Offline U r right about that El P!! Wow though, huge win. Reece, Williams, Dae Dae (especially down the stretch), Clark and McGriff all played well, but we still need to play better D. Seems we have a hard time keeping guards in front of us, other than Clark, and of course still fighting guarding the 3. That said, a no quit clutch performance. Big win, GO DUKES!!! Offline "3 by Clark from left side was key." Bigger play was his steal under the basket plus the three by Dae Dae. Those plays gave the Dukes a lead that told the team they could overcome whatever ISU threw at them. This team really believes in itself. And....plays like it believes in itself. ISU was only 37%, less than its season average, from the three point range. Dukes were over 40 %. Dukes shot fantastic 88% plus from the foul line! Plus crucial steals in crunch time. Add up all those positives and you get a W. Last edited by grammudder (12/17/2022 4:49 pm) Offline I really like this roster. They have talent, size, maturity, togetherness, & toughness in spades. Offline The Dukes after a bizarre 20-4 start, just out ran a very good running team, ISU played well enough to beat most teams, but the Dukes kept up the pace. Take that 20-4 start away and the Dukes really ran away with it. They just might make some noise in conf.play if they bring this game with them. Great win. Offline This was a good comeback win for the Dukes. Attached are the box score and post game interviews. Good luck trying to hear it. I had to turn on the closed captions. Online! I really like this roster. They have talent, size, maturity, togetherness, & toughness in spades. Ray asked Dixon about him getting to play as a freshman and he answered that he hadn't expected to play much and was planning on learning from watching the veterans. Online! Another tough one coming up. Winthrop down 1 to LSU with a minute to go till halftime. Online! One more good game going on as Davidson trailing #1 Purdue by 3 with under 4 to go.

I don’t know if the Dukes “struggled” against fast paced teams, but it presents challenges because weaknesses are amplified with additional possessions. If the Dukes play as good defensively today as they did vs DePaul and keep turnovers low, the pace will not matter. •Thread Starter
Re: Game Thread - Indiana State University Sycamores
Brewer is out again so we will need to play McGriff and Rozier at point again.
I hope Tre has a big game against his former team
Go Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - Indiana State University Sycamores
-KD didn't have his team prepared for both Marshall's offensive & defensive schemes. He also didn't make great adjustments in-game.
-Our guys have grit & there is no OVERALL talent gap between the 2 teams so a legit comeback could be mounted.
-Hearing KD say during his last post-game opportunity that he hadn't even looked at Indiana State tape yet is troubling. That is doubly true because of their personnel & their coach's well established playing style from his uber-succesful D-2 days.
-The Sean Paul commentary about their 6'11" freshman center shooting 50% from 3 is more than hyperbolic. He is only listed at 6'10", he has only taken 24 3pt shots in 9 games, & his current percentage is .375 including 1-7 over their last 3 games.
-McCauley is a prolific shooter. Especially front 3 taking 11 deep shots per game. He has had some huge games this season. He has a bad A/TO ratio this year. He played 2 extremely successful seasons for his current coach at the D-II level before sitting out 1 season to transfer to DePaul. He also did a prep year. He is older & experienced. He graduated high school in 2017.
-The Dukes are the deeper team today.

It was so fun to see Tre get his against his former team. He was awesome on both ends.
This is an important win. ISU definitely has enough talent, experience, size, & coaching to be a middle of the pack A-10 team or better.
The big man rotation needs to be must be handled perfectly lest somebody is going to be disappointed & understandably so. There are 5 good bigs here. I think the biggest priorities are winning now & making sure Barre, Dixon, & Tre return.
I am anxious to see how this group does on the road.
I stand corrected on my pre-season criticism of giving Rozier a scholarship. He has some serious "it factor."
Hronsky has lots to offer & is a different kind of player for DU & KD. This program needs him in its culture.
