I believe their 4 home and away teams are the top 4 teams in the standings. This might be the biggest game in the "new" facility to date. But, down the stretch, these Dukes seem to be hitting on all levels. Davidson is having an off year and has little reason to get up for this game. I hope all that holds true. It would be great to see KD's Dukes pull ahead early and see some kids off the bench get some minutes. Post-season is all that counts and for the first time in forever, we may just get there. WOW just finished reading my Sunday papers. Dave Mackall of the Trib had an excellent article apparently upon attending a practice before todays big game. The PG on the other hand, crickets. They may have found the formula to beat the Dukes Outside shooting. Coming out high beyond the 3 point line on defense. Only 1 turnover Davidson right now and 3 for the Dukes. Getting schooled by a frat boys team. Maybe leave Gunn on the bench and play Rotroff a lot more. Any guard contributions would be nice. No secret formula going on. We are missing open shots. It will certainly change in the second half. The other thing that needs to change is the illegal screens. Dambrot needs to get on the refs. There have been 3 or 4 in the final few minutes of the half both on handoffs (which is a point of emphasis this year) and off the ball. We got their best shot. Loyer hit some ridiculous shots to end the half and Huffman a 19% 3pt shooter hit two contested threes in the first half. If our open shots start falling which they should, we will be fine. KD didn't press and push the action until too much time off the clock in the second half. Dukes made up a lot of points in that faster pace 3 or 4 minutes and out-scored Davidson in that stretch, but not enough time remaining. two men out on our ball-handler at the perimeter most of the game should have opened up someone else? In fact, I told my son they really have not had a strong top 20 type team in my life, except for the very early 70s, which I can barely remember. I'm numb to losing when it comes to Duquesne.
