Lets try to defend Luis this time. He averages 11 ppg, scored 31 vs us earlier this year. Defense will win this game. It might be high scoring, but defense will matter.
Fun week in the A10 starts tonight with St Lou at VCU, on CBSSN, and LaSalle at Dayton.

If the program has truly moved forward this game has to be a lay-up for the Dukes. They cannot come out and get beat. If the shots aren't falling then they must find another way to win. There has already been too many unacceptable losses this season. Any given year you have to expect to lose a game or 2 that you were supposed to win by a relatively big margin. Upsets happen - any team should be afforded the latitude to slip up. And when you are the Dukes, you are afforded even more latitude. But we have hit our ceiling of acceptable missteps this season. This is a bottom feeder and we have them at home. We already let them beat us once. Absolutely no excuse to lose this one. none

You are correct & have expressed the program's state very well.

Early on in his time here at Duquesne Dambrot brought in the sports psychologist to help change the attitude. But I question if it isn’t himself that needs to believe he can change the dynamic. The Dukes came out tight and flat against Davidson while knowing for days this would be one of the biggest crowds at the Coop. It’s time for Dambrot to step up his game and give his team its best opportunity to win.

His team came out not being able to put the ball in the ocean. Had 2 of their shots gone in early in the first half, it could have changed the whole game. You cant blame the coach for not making open shots.
Of course 93.7 still treating us like Rodney Dangerfield, says Duquesne plays UMass in the A10 tournament tonight. At least they mentioned we play. Its all pitt or penguins all the time on that station. Why I listen, IDK. Habit I guess, morning routine, need to change that.

True and they do wander off the topic of sports a little too much for me, but I guess that's a minor point.

I agree with all the opinions and points expressed in this thread. Tonight is a huge game! Win this one and hope springs eternal. Lose this one and the black cloud begins to form over the program.
I believe they will win it big but any win I will take. Just WIN!
Go Dukes

I just saw that the line was up to 11½. Some wise guys are putting some sizable cash on the Dukes.

This UMass team is tanking bad. In February they are 1-6, losing three at home and three on the road. This would be a devastating loss for the Dukes. I think Frank Martin has lost this team and it would be embarrassing if he righted the troops against us.

Relax,
The Dukes will get the win tonight and go to 20-wins total and 10 in the A-10. No small accomplishment after last season.

I would shudder to think that you are wrong!!

Someone on A10 board wondered if Fernandes was playing tonight.

Dixon is that guy! Does it all.

David. Dixon.

Nice half. Need to build on this in second half, Don't let them back in the game.

Good half. Need to stay disciplined even if Umass isn’t. We got a little loose at times in that half, but corrected it. Maybe I have my Duquesne blinders on, but I feel like we got a strange whistle again in that half…an unfortunate trend of this season. Would love to see Dambrot earn a technical to set the tone going into the tourney. Love seeing Clark back at his best! And Dixon!! Wow.

Halftime- G.Mason 23-14 over Fordham. Fordham 3-29 FG

Lost 9 pts. off lead in 4 minutes. At this pace we lose by 30 plus.

Grant is off tonight. Should be up by 20 at this point. Not sure why Dambrot constantly pulls Dixon. He doesn't look the least bit tired. Going to need more of Dixon and Rotroff and a little less of Williams and Reese if the Dukes are to make a run come tournament time.

Oh no, another half of misery???

Strange whistle confirmed. So frustrating. We don’t have to earn respect, we’ve tried. We clearly have to take it.

Another experienced coach at the head of a bad team changes up his defense & as usual, KD does not have his team prepared for it in any way. Heaven forbid he call a timeout to discuss what is happening! This crap usually flies against the bad teams.

We’ve shredded this token pressure. Just missing open shots to start the half. The lack of stops is the reason umass clawed back.
