Nobody signed in the fall recruiting period. Nobody signed in the fall recruiting period. What a kick to the gut. Nobody signed in the fall recruiting period. What a kick to the gut. You know, we ripped Danny Nee, and rightfully so, for basically saying that he wouldn't recruit guys who were being looked at by the major programs. That said, this shows the risk of aiming high. Sometimes you strike out. While you're waiting for your big target to make up their mind, players that you could have gotten may go elsewhere. Fortunately, this is not a big class for us with only 2 spots open. With a small sophomore class, it wouldn't shock me for us to add a jc player to it for next year. Best player you can get, regardless of position. ThT was one thing I liked about JC, he went after the good ones but missed out on Bobby Sura and others to his demise. Ferry also said Mason had his cast off and might be ready in two weeks. Nobody signed in the fall recruiting period. What a kick to the gut. Best player you can get, regardless of position. We have three slots open for next year. What is disappointing to me is that we had a verbal from Eric James. He had a bunch of mid major offers and was blowing up and we could not seal the deal. We have three open scholies: Soko, Jerry Jones, and Datt. Ferry said he was targeting the Luther kid as his big catch and clearly we didn't get him. We had a swingman announce his commitment and not sign. I think there has to be some rhyme and reason with a recruiting class so my gut tells me Ferry announces three kids in the Spring and we like them. He had a bunch of mid major offers and was blowing up and we could not seal the deal. Somebody was probably in his ear. Told him to hold out for a BCS offer, and that Duquesne would still be there if it didn't come. This happened with Severe last year, but Fordham still got him. Didn't work out with Notice, who is sitting on the bench at SC. Severe gets serious radio time on ESPN in NY, largely because Michael Kay, who calls Yankees games on the YES Network and has the single largest head on the planet (damn thing is visible from space) is a Fordham grad. Plus I think he's leading the nation in scoring. Dwelling on guys we didn't get is just masochism. Like footprints in the sand, we need to forget about them and move on to what we have instead of what we don't have. We like the pain! Good theory on Eric James and that someone has his ear about waiting for a bigger offer; also about Notice who took the bait, with the BCS school and probably got the bright lights, etc. but now sits on the bench as an "insurance policy" for the coach. I think it has become such a status symbol for players to get the offer from a BCS school that they just jump on it to impress their friends. Maybe they really don't care about playing anymore, just getting the big offer and the perks. Some guys are more realistic, and would rather have a chance to play immediately, and make a name for themselves on the D-1 level, rather than sit, wait, and hope they get a chance before the next recruit at their position moves ahead of them. Of course that bites both ways, as there are kids who will take a chance to play right away, at say, the America East level, rather than wait, and hope to play as an upperclassman at an A10 school. Who is dwelling? If you believe I want anything other than a rout and Severe to get shut out when we play Fordham, you haven't been paying attention. Who is dwelling? If you believe I want anything other than a rout and Severe to get shut out when we play Fordham, you haven't been paying attention. Severe was 1 for 21 against St.Johns today. It's defnitely hard for me not to be slightly disappointed. After all, recruiting is the only way I see this program turning around. I want to see 3 star recruits signing with our program so we can move to the next level. I want it to get to the point where most of our players sign in the fall and we can move past this spring waiting game. I just know that I hope Ferry surprises me. I hope we have a Damian Saunders type situation, but those don't happen all that often. Still, I'm going to put faith in our coach to land some solid players. Who is dwelling? I hope we have the film. PS, I hope I NEVER see a Duquesne player take 21 shots when he is hitting nothing. 1 for 21 is as bad as it gets. 1 for 21 is as bad as it gets. Inexcusable for the NCAA to waste this much of a kid's season. If he ends up fully clear, I hope Steve Nesbitt or another reporter will make a case out of this.
