Offline I guess I will reply to.myself. He is picking the Duke's as an 11 seed in the NCAAs next year Offline This prediction doesn't surprise me but is really nice to see. KD and staff have gathered an impressive array of recruits over the past two recruiting years and I believe that we will see the fruits of that labor this season. If it all goes well, i'm looking for over 25 wins counting the post season. Do I hear 30? Too optimistic? We will see. Offline El P what's with this crowd? Although at this point it really is speculation I can't remember a Duquesne being touted that highly and I grew up going to games at the arena in the early seventies. Wouldn't it be a great thing if Dambrot could actually get them to the tournament and maybe even win a game Offline El P what's with this crowd? Offline CLK for sure and rightfully so Offline That's all about to change. I expect a totally different mindset with the coming of the new season. Last edited by El Presidente (5/27/2023 10:47 am) Offline I'll believe it if I see it. Offline I also have a wait and see outlook. Offline I see it because I believe it!! Offline I think the point is that on paper they have a real solid team. Can anyone point out this type of highly positive news about a Duquesne team since the 70s? Mike Rice recruits or maybe Everhart's first class.... I mean I've seen one picking them #1 and another at #2. I'm not a dreamer especially when it comes to the Duke's but we might have something here. Offline I think the point is that on paper they have a real solid team. I am ecstatic that the Dukes are getting this kind of press. Sincerely. I will say though that I was more excited/optimistic about the team that was returning Sin, Maceo, Marcus, Mike, Lamar, and TDM. I thought THAT team was going to win the A 10. I can't remember if they got this type of press or not. Offline I find this state of affairs to be inspiring mostly because it is praise based on the available facts & the real-time conditions of the A-10 in general. It has been at least 35 years since a DU team was regarded so highly in the preseason. Offline Joe had to put in an A10 team, he announces St joes games so has some idea what the teams have coming back, and saw us blow St Joes out earlier in the season in Philly. I'd like to see OOC schedule before getting excited, but his prediction is based on us winning the A10 tournament, and you cant really argue with that at this point in time. It would be fun to have expectations and hopes for a postseason. Offline I have more hope right now than any time in the past 40 some years and that includes the group with Hughes, Weathers, TDM, Maceo, and company. I can't imagine another team in the country with the frontcourt depth that we have and that will come into play during the season. Are there more talented teams? Of course there are, but again just from a depth perspective in the forecourt, not too many that would compare. Our guards will have way more open looks with the inside game working for us. Could and should be a special year. Would also like to see a 6-3 penetrating PG to run things. Last edited by El Presidente (5/31/2023 12:57 pm) 1 of 1

JOE BTFSPLK was a character in the satirical comic strip Li'l Abner (published 1934–1977) by cartoonist Al Capp. He is well-meaning but is "the world's worst jinx", bringing disastrous misfortune to everyone around him. A small, dark rain cloud perpetually hovers over his head to symbolize his bad luck. -

However, when various sports analysis types
start touting the Dukes then I start to pay attention.
Injuries, team chemistry and correct talent evaluation
are a number of variable that could affect the final
outcome but for now I enjoy the attention the team is
receving.

Before & during last season I wrote that in order to keep his job KD needed to produce a team with at least 16-18 wins & bring back the majority of the core players with remaining eligibility for the 23-24 season. Bolstered by the recent, very strong recruiting results, those modest goals have been far exceeded.
Great stuff!
I still have my reasons for believing that the Dukes will be more likely to finish 3rdish in the A-10. This would be very exciting as it would position them favorably for a run in the conference tournament & beyond.
