Correct, Pitt (ACC) in December 2016. Jim Ferry's Dukes also took down Penn State (Big 10) in November 2015 and West Virginia (Big 12) in December 2012. Offline They can certainly beat this team. They are a good team, but by no means a great one. Their stats are inflated because of horrible competition. Last edited by luckymcd (11/22/2023 11:47 am) Offline luckymcd, I agree with you on this post. If we really are going to be a tournament team, we need to win away and against a good team. Also, it does depend on our big guys as the front court can change off on who is having the best night. Additionally, and it is Early...I can see us getting to the NIT but not the NCAA yet. Offline Interesting perspective off of the Nebraska board... Offline Not to be negative BUT the Dukes are without 2 of their super experienced aircraft carriers at the center position. Nebraskas bigs remind me of the 1970-80s offensive lineman. The guards can shot 3’s. I disagree that Dambrot is an inferior coaching this matchup. Finally it’s called the”Cornhusker Classic” Home court advantage plus Big Ten Referees. 😭Watch how many tick-tac fouls are called Jimmy Clark 1st half. (4th in steals) Big ten referees may cause me to🍺🍷🥃 Oh I forgot Tominaga from Japan. Steph Curry of the Japanese national team. Good story on espn College basketball thread. 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 Last edited by Ironduke81 (11/22/2023 2:50 pm) Offline Where's Danny Nee when you need him? Offline 2 quick on Clark but decent start other than that. Offline Hanging in there. Rozier stepping up as Grant has fallen off. 33 - 30 us. Offline Love the rebounding tonight. I don’t like the fouls 9-5. I LOVE Kareem tonight. He’s really taking what they are giving him and executing. Not trying to do too much. Offline Freaking Daryl Dawkins Dixon....he monster dunked and broke the hoop ..he's a beast Offline Some genius at Nebraska finally figured out Offline I think I can grow to dislike the little guy from Japan. Offline I think I can grow to dislike the little guy from Japan. As a buddy of mine says: "NS" Offline Nice half. Disappointed we couldn’t get a better look during that last possession. That’s the first time in a while Rozier was out of control and trying to do what he can’t. Not going to knock him though because was excellent all half. Offline Jimmy Clark with two quick fouls forcing him to play limited minutes, and we are still ahead at the half. Great half of basketball between two well-coached teams. Fun to watch. Good penetration by our Dukes. Great rebounding. Keep it up! Offline The effort is there. The defense is there. Please keep hitting the threes and the intensity up and we have a great shot!!! 20 minutes of basketball has me stressed to no end! Offline Well, I think we were all anticipating a tough whistle to start the second, but this is crazy

Re: Game Thread - University of Nebraska Cornhuskers
Our big guys will need to step up tonight if we're going to win. They try to push everything outside defensively, so Dae Dae, Clark, and Rozier will have opportunities. Unless they are all shooting the lights out, we're going to need some scoring inside though. Good looks are tough to come by against them, and we've struggled even when getting good looks inside. They also are very good on the glass. So again the big guys need to step up.
Offensively, they are somewhat similar to Princeton, which is worrisome. It's more of a motion offense, but there are definitely similarities, and Princeton killed us. They might not have anyone that can blow by you off the dribble (especially against our guards), but everyone can pass and everyone can shoot. They also are pretty deep, with 10 guys averaging double figure minutes. I think we should back off on the press tonight. I certainly want the aggressive defense to continue in the halfcourt; but we're not going to tire them out and with their passing and shooting ability I think extending to fullcourt leaves us vulnerable to transition 3s.
I do think we'll be able to score against them, but don't know if we can make enough stops in crunch time to win. We match up with them pretty well, but the biggest mismatch might be coaching in their favor. I like Dambrot, but Hoiberg is one of the best in the game. They are 4-1 in their last 5 games decided by 6 points or less, we are 1-4. I hope I'm wrong, but I think that trend may continue. Dukes cover the spread, but lose 72-68.

Go Dukes!
Re: Game Thread - University of Nebraska Cornhuskers
"It's a trap in the sense that:-The Dukes have a couple of legit dudes that can take over games-Student section will be empty for Thanksgiving-Best team we've played thus far, but with a name that doesn't get you excited Talented opponent plus apathetic crowd is a recipe for a trap. Obviously Hoiberg and the team aren't overlooking Duquesne, but the casual fans are and that is going to cause some awkward nervous energy in the arena if we fall behind. And that's the sort of negative energy that can effect the team."
