Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

This seems to be another case of the road announcers thinking Duquesne is better than their own fans. Although I think they’re far from VCU homers. The one guy hasn’t stopped talking about ACC names from 40 years ago.

You get what you get with the local EPSN+ announcers. He has compared Dae Dae Grant to Caitlin Clark twice and I’d say that’s a rather large compliment. They also were on that 3 steps Nelson took before the 3 even went down

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Looks like a typical Dukes game. Low scoring battle. DiMichele coming up big so far.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

The breaks are going our way so far. Injuries are adding up for the Rams. This style of game probably favors us. We're playing better than the score indicates, and we're still up at the half. VCU certainly isn't going down easy though on senior night playing for a seed.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Wow... 2 fouls in 37 seconds for Kuamy to get up to 4 PFs. Then another tough shot by Dae Dae. but we need to lock down on D.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Kareem and Jake are earning their scholarships tonight. Okay maybe Jake is just earning his minutes, but I have to imagine he'll be on scholarship next year.

I love it when Rozier makes me look stupid.

If you were the one that brought up the Rams tall lineup it was a great point, but I'm loving seeing him prove you wrong too.

Let's keep adding on. Don't need a last minute thriller.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

So it looks like it was Phoenix who brought up the Rams tall lineup. While I still maintain it was a great point, it appears Dambrot had the opposite idea. Instead of only going with Kareem when the short backup point was in, he decided to go with extra length when he is. Hronsky is playing as well as he has in his time here, and I have to think the height advantage is a big reason why. I've been as critical of Dambrot as anyone here, but I've got to give him credit when he makes that kind of untraditional move that works out.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

That Dixon block was unreal. Stopped Jackson at the top.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Stats have Dukes with 0 blocks. I have them with 5.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Fouling with the lead in these scenarios is horrible and not new for these guys

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Smart to foul Williams with the 1-1. HUGE HITS.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Winning at VCU is nothing to turn your nose about... this team can do it on away courts against teams like SBU, GMU, and VCU they can do it on a neutral court too. I believe!!

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

When they say that was Duquesne's second win in the Siegel Center, are they counting the Richmond game in the 2021 A10 tournament? So this is our first win against VCU there?

Yes. This is historic.  I am so amazed.

Re: Game Thread - Virginia Commonwealth University Rams

Great win! I think avoiding that 8-9 game (versus St. Joe or GMU) is huge. Beat GW. Williams hitting both ends of that one and one was nice. He stepped up tonight as did all the Dukes.
