Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

Given what I’ve experienced this weekend I can only back the Dukes 99%. It seems the Illini players (or at least one very significant one) are the complete opposite of their fans. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still all in on the Dukes. As one Illini fan told me tonight though “man I wish I could cheer for you guys.” I hope the Dukes foul out Shannon 5 minutes into the game and go on to win the game; but if they don’t I’ll be cheering for Shannon to foul out 5 minutes into every game and then the Illini to advance.

You know what, never mind all of that…Shoo shoo rah rah Go Dukes!!!

Thanks Phoenix, you only need to do four more of these this season.  Go Dukes

The one video I watched with one of their announcers and pr guys focused on who they are going to play in the sweet 16.  According to many of their fans this is a great draw and no way can we beat them.

Go Dukes!

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

Any details on an on campus watch party?  Time? Place? Vending?

If not, guess Buffalo Wild Wings in Cranberry.

Kinda disappointed in Dunhams and some other stores.   Tons of unbought Pitt, PSU and even RMU stuff on display.  Have to go digging for Duqueane gear.

Great article- Good to hear Ron Everhart’s take on this season.  Going fron Ron to KD would have been so much better than letting him go when they dod without a clue to get someone as good as Ron.

Very classy of him to include the administration in who he's happy for. It probably helps that neither the AD or president who fired him are still there.

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

If what I read is accurate. Dayton and the Dukes have earned the A10 $8M so far.   The 2 teams get 75% of that, so right now we have $3M coming into the program.   Thats HUGE!   And we're not done yet.

This is a winnable game for the Dukes. Let's hope they can make even more money today. Go Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

Dayton lost, mainly to me, because they tried in the second half to feed it to Holmes and each time Az. either stole it or Holmes just couldn't score. I kind of felt all season that Holmes got more attention then his worth. I wouldn't have wanted Holmes over Dixon.  But it would have been nice to see Dayton win. We now are the A-10 in this tourney. Go Dukes.

We got this Dukes. Tough hard nosed defense, grab the loose balls, we just need to want it more. Go Dukes!

I can’t believe we are less than an hour away than a chance at the Sweet 16.   Go Dukes!

I’m thrilled with this team and this season and nothing that happens tonight will change that.

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

I haven't posted in forever, but I am beyond proud of this team.  I wouldn't have care if we lost by 100 tonight.  Now, let's hope we promote Dru and he can take this team to ever greater heights.  I think having the Lebron Connection with the NIL is crucial for the future success of this team.

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

They are absolutely electric. The game has been officiated very differently on both sides of the floor. That is driving me nuts, but this team might win it. Shannon is ridiculous athletically.

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

It's been a TERRIFIC run but they are just too good and too athletic -  Clark is perhaps the only player we have that is capable of defending against these guys -  some of the bigs might block some shots but the rest of the team just aren't quick enough to stop a dribble drive or strong enough to stop the one on one moves when they pound the ball inside and back their way in.

Re: Game Thread - University of Illinois Fighting Illini (NCAA TOURNAMENT)

City Duke,
I am just amazed that you are still complaining about the officials. I know that’s your jam, and every game you do it, but these officials have ZERO impact on this game.

I am thankful they got to where they did this year.
