Bronny's May 29th Decision

May 29th is the deadline date for Bronny to decide whether to stay in the NBA draft or return to the transfer portal. Here's a Sporting News view...They seem to think that Bronny James should return to college ball, with the Dukes being the best choice....

Also the role Labron should play...

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

Bronny is 19 and has the rest of his life to be a grownup. Enjoy being a kid for a while. Don't be a big hurry to grow up.  Play college ball a year or two. That pro career will still be there in a year or two, and likely by then, a higher draft pick from what he accomplished in college instead of a second round pick this year because of being the son of a famous pro player,  College ball is different then Pro Ball.  It would be a shame if he passed it up. A life time of memories of friends and team mates and coaches from school.  DU doesn't need him  to be a great team this year because Coach Dru has put together the best incoming  team I have ever seen at DU, but, right now with Bronny at point, he would get the chance to run a very good team and likely get more attention and credit then just about anywhere else in college ball. He could make some college ball history right now, or just be a bench player in the pros..

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

Watching ESPN the talking heads opined that Bronny struggled in the scrimmages today. Hopefully, he improves tomorrow. I do believe Uncle Dru would be his best option for multiple reasons at Duquesne if Bronny chooses  to opt out of the NBA draft. Finally, I hope he stays away from the G league. Enjoy a year or two playing college ball with a coach he & the James family can trust 100%.

Bingo. Running an offense at his age skill level with national attention he needs Coach Dru, (A professional point guard ) to teach him the nuances of being a point guard, all while just dominating the A-10 and a very likely deep run in the NCAA . He may do a world of good for himself getting back to the roots and the basics with Coach Dru. The Dru family seems to have that magic that makes these kids become winners.

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

Well agreed on all the comments on staying in school.

Also unless Bronny himself comes out and states he is staying in the draft anything is still possible!
There have been tweets and stories stating both college and pro ball.

Let’s hear it from the horses mouth!
Go Dukes!

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

Let the speculations begin ...I hope Bronny has a successful NBA combine further illustrating that Bronny is a  legit talent...If he succeeds at the combine, I beleive that Bronny will stay in the draft ( though I disagree).... Most draft boards have him already, around 45th pick in the second round...I think he will get picked before LeBron's Lakers at 55.... I still believe, if he stays in the draft.. that he will most likely start-off in the G-League... This means that Bronny will probaby start-off in the G-League...  with ANOTHER NBA franchise, other than the Lakers...

I fail to see how starting-off in the G-League, with another franhcise, would be of a benefit or a  positive for Bronny?... In fact I think , it would be counter productive to his overall basketball developement ... Guy's like Bronny need "reps"...as a (lead-dog) type Point Guard....I think Dru and Duqusene would be the best place for Bronny to expand and impliment these improvememts to his game...

By-the -way, this also means, that Bronny, would most likely be playing in some "Podunk" G-League town....in the (middle of nowhere)...If Bronny came to Duquesne, he would be the" Toast of the Town" in Pittsburgh.... He also would be "The MAIN- MAN"  !!!! ...on DU's campus.... no doubt about it ... I think Bronny can bear, this load of responsiblity, but also, thrive under it...That's not to say, that what Dru has accomplished already, recruiting wise... hasn't been super impressive !!!  Dru has assembled the BEST team, I have EVER SEEN... on the Bluff !!! Getting Bronny however... would take us to an entirely new level ...

https://www.marca.com/en/basketball/nba/2024/05/14/6642cd2746163f37948b45ed.html

So, I'll just have to get, my jolly's off...watching, all these sports pundits, speculate-away about Bronny's future... Until Bronny finally makes his decesion on May 29th.... Everything else is mere speculation and noise .......
Though I have to admit it ...it's all... very entertaining !!!!

P.S.- Bronny has been covered all day (today) at the  NBA combine by ESPN2

Stephen A. Smith ...this morning...and Skip Bayless too...

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

It looks like things are playing out pretty much like I predicted in the previous post... Looks like he going to stay in the draft ....After the draft combine (some) NBA scouts had some less than stellar evaluations, as to whether Bronny is NBA quality ....right now...They don't seem think so...  It will come down to whether the Lakers take him as their 55th pick in the 2nd round ????

https://athlonsports.com/nba/nba-scouts-review-bronny-james-after-draft-combine

The NBA comp mentioned here.... is that Bronny is a   "Poor Man's"- "Devion Mitchell".... of the my (Light the Beam) Sacramento Kings !!!!  And that's a good thing !!!  The bad.... are the "Poor" parts of the evaluations ... Bronny doesn't have a good enough handle to be a  (lead) NBA PG and is a undersized ( 6'1") NBA SG with a unproven 3-point shot... He doesn't have that quick burst of speed or any unique ability to create his own shot....All things that take time to develop....

Go Dukes !!!

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

Dru needs to concentrate on Brice James, as he seems to be doing.  There i a much better chance at landing him.  But whatever choices the James boys make, best wishes going forward.

I have it by a very reliable source that Dru is doing just that and Bryce is scheduled for a visit this summer. As another member of this board posted, Dru was sitting right next to Lebron watching Bryce play.  in today’s world, anybody of Lebron’s celebrity understands the optics of every public situation they are in and is aware that their every move will be scrutinized.  It was not happenstance that they were pictured together at THAT game. And if you doubt it, try to find ANOTHER pic online of the 2 of them hanging out together at a public event.

I have no source that says Bronny and Bryce want to play together BUT wouldn’t that be nice?

Re: Bronny's May 29th Decision

My guess is that we have a much better opportunity to land Bryce but we will see. He's around 6-6 and probably could grow a bit more. Could be a good catch.
