Re: VCU

The statistical analysis of the Dukes in this article explains it all. Strength of schedule is 333/351. Adjusted defense efficiency is 307. Against top 150 teams we score 68 and give up 81 points per game.

The Dukes ranks 7th in the NCAA D1 for fewest turnovers.  One thing we know is that VCU will press the Dukes the moment they step from the locker room.  The Dukes have not faced this kind of pressure all year. It will be intersting to see what JF devises to beat the press.  The GW guards the other night did a good job af avoiding the trap and when they got the ball up court they attacked the basket.  I hope the Dukes can play as aggressively, and get back on defense.

Hmmm! I wonder why that Strength of Schedule is so pathetic?

Re: VCU

VCU if favored by 18.  Pomeroy has this as a 19 point loss (90-71), giving the Dukes a 6% chance of winning this game.

I think what he meant is that Amodio's finger prints are all over this schedule.

Re: VCU

I'd be happy with 40 minutes of good effort. Steve must've been thinking about NFL games when he said 60. :o)

Re: VCU

We played walk-ons at the end of the last game that is why  the score looked close but we all knew that.   The game wasn't close at all. We will again lose, we are not good enough.  But I think the game may be more competitive because they run and we can run much better than we can stand around and play against a zone defense.
VCU75 - Dukes 65

CLK, just a poor attempt at being a wise guy.

Re: VCU

If we can get the ball upcourt against their pressure Mason might have a little more space to get himself open. Mr. Nesbitt was a little off on the number of minutes in a game.

I'm all for 60 though if it ends up with a win. By the way Stephen keep up the good work.

Re: VCU

Hey, I truly enjoy it. It's a breath of fresh air to cover a program like Duquesne where you don't have to fuss with too many press conferences while competing with a million other outlets. It's a passionate fan base that wants to see this team turn things around. Having a front-row seat for it all is pretty neat.

Re: VCU

Of course, the game before ours is heading into OT. MORE COMMERCIALS! MORE FOULS! MORE FTs! Maybe someone will hit 50 in the exciting clash of Big Least teams.

First shot of the game a wide open 3 by Mason. Hoping for more to come but with better results.

Re: VCU

This is either pretty good defense or pretty bad offense on both sides.
