Yes Offline Dinkins gets the nod to start tonight! Offline in the meantime the start of the game will be shown on the FOX SPORTS APP Offline David Skogman shouldn’t be this hard to contain. Former Davidson guy. Offline Gonna be a long year. Offline Towson, you took the words right out of my mouth. Offline I didn't have "Players Regressing" on my bingo card. Offline Down 16 at this point. Effort is good, but execution is lacking. Just tried to press full court but nobody got back and allowed an easy dunk and a foolish foul by Hronsky added to the misery. They haven’t panicked and continue to get good shots. Offline Frustrating watch. Offline Welcome to the Foge Fazio era on the bluff. It’s not going to get better come the tournament in the islands. Long year my friends. Last year was fun. Offline Duquesne is in for a very long year, cant shoot, dont play defense, cant even make free throws.Looks like Dukes from 3 seasons ago. Offline Miss you so much Dae dae Jimmy and Drammes Offline Embarrassing final minutes of this one with DePaul subs coming off the bench and dunking, and scoring layups at will against Duquesne starters. Just a total breakdown in the end. Offline Let’s not jump off the bandwagon quite yet. We knew we had a new coach, new players , and no Jimmy or Dae Dae. Yes, tonight was unacceptable but remember our 0-5 start in A10 last year. Try to stay the course. Offline I lost count of how many times last year (even we’ll before the season-ending run) I said “this isn’t the Duquesne of old.” Tonight looked like so many Dukes teams we’ve all seen before. I’m trying not to get too far down because I felt there were some positives to take out of even two losses to start the season. I’m struggling to find the thinnest silver lining in this one. Offline Tonight Loyola Chicago beat Princeton, at Princeton 73-68. Back and forth for the last 6 minutes until the Ramblers took the lead with about 1 minute remaining. Offline Another tough loss but this one hurts more than the other 2 with very little positives to take from it. Most momentum the program has had in 50+ years and certainly the best situation for an incoming coach. Outsiders are going to question whether Dru is qualified for this - I can say I still believe and we’ll turn this around. Druquesne Offline Its tough going to sleep after watching this one.I hope Lebron saw this as it may be time to open his wallett Offline Looked up the box score on espn. Nacas is clearly the best all around player for the Dukes. He rebounded and had the most assists. Problem is he does not shoot or these new transfers or the coaches fail to run the offense thru him. This team had very few assist. This offense is like watching an AAU game. I don’t expect things to change come Tuesdays game & worse yet the Cayman Islands. Again look at the box scores for the Dukes last three games. Very telling. Offline Not sure about outsiders questioning if Dru is the guy...I think insiders are going to start to question it, even though it has only been 3 games. In my lowly opinion, here is what I see so far...

The boys better be ready to play some D as DePaul has put up over 90 points in 2 of their 3 games thus far! Rozier, Dixon, and Chabi all saw the floor during Duquesne’s home win over DePaul in December, 2022. They have seen DePaul before, but nobody who played for the Blue Demons that day is still on the team and the coaching staff is entorely different. Former Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann is in his first year at the helm in Chicago. DePaul currently has 4 players averaging double figure scoring numbers: 5th year senior Isaiah Rivera and Sophomore Jacob Meyer both average 16 points. You have heard of RJ Gunn... DePaul has CJ Gunn (No relation as far as I know) and he is currently averaging 13 ppg. Lipscomb and Princeton were two teams with continuity, and successful machine-like systems. This will be a different style game as DePaul looks to prove themselves. Go Dukes!

Will we? Not unless someone gets Hot and Maximus helps us more than he will hurt us.
Go Dukes
If they lose, this will be a challenge for our new coach not to lose the team this early in the year.

The 7 PM game on FS2 still has over 3 minutes left and is in the final media timeout. I’m not sure where the Duquesne game will be shown in the meantime but when I find out will post. •Thread Starter

Re: Game Thread - DePaul Blue Demons
They continue to give up lots of 3-pointers, and that can’t continue. No team can win when giving up 13-threes. In general the defense is also giving up straight-line drives to the hoop. Offensively they need to convert easy opportunities and free throws. Going to be an ugly final score in this one, down 20 and sinking fast. Team is probably talented enough to compete, but needs to get much better on both ends of the court.

I didn’t expect a win at DePaul, but hoped for a competitive game with the team starting to take shape and define roles, but this was a giant step backward.

Re: Game Thread - DePaul Blue Demons
I absolutely credit Holtman; as I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a team change as much as they have in just one year. They may prove to be a good team. They aren’t 26 points better than us though. We got thoroughly outcoached tonight.
I’ll be honest and tell you I don’t know what they were doing to cause it; but there were at least four or five times they managed to get Rozier in the paint alone trying to defend a big guy. I realize mismatches are going to happen on switches, but that’s the kind of thing that cannot happen repeatedly. I’ll also credit Kareem because I don’t know that they actually scored on any of them. The desire was there all night (that’s the silver lining I struggled to find), but the execution was downright awful.
I don’t know if anyone else saw the beginning (or god forbid was there in person), but I didn’t. Apparently Edwards was dominating while the other game was still being aired. Once they switched over it looked like more of the same though. He takes over too much of the offense when he’s in and then disappears on defense. I was thrilled when he chose Duquesne out of the portal, and am trying not to lose that excitement so early in the season, but he doesn’t seem like a good fit so far.
I’m not surprised by any of these losses individually. I’m not even shocked we’re 0-3. Lipscomb and Princeton are likely NCAA tournament teams and DePaul is a Big East team who looks like they actually belong in the league now. The team just hasn’t looked like I expected a Dru Joyce team would. Luckily we’ll get a breather on either side of the tournament, but there are some good teams in the field. There are a lot of problems to fix. Unfortunately I’m feeling the same as everyone else after that showing. It could be a long season.

to help his friend recruit some basketball players who can at least make a free throw.Good grief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Game Thread - DePaul Blue Demons
Re: Game Thread - DePaul Blue Demons
-they appear to get along well
-they work hard
-looks like they respect Dru
Now...
-their 3 point defense has not improved from the first game and that is on the coach
-Maximus has not been who he is "supposed" to be
-I saw a lot of "ill advised" shots last night
-foul shooting is awful
It's still early, but 3 point defense and taking bad shots is on the coach
Foul shooting and specific player ability is on the players...again, just my opinion but I keep saying it is early, and it is.
