Zac Weiss article and great pressers. Dru's went on longer than usual.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

Anyone worried when Rozier fouled that they would call it intentional? I was.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

A whole week off until going to GW. These wins have to be huge for the confidence of the guys and proof that effort, grit, and mental toughness is enough to do anything. I think back to Corbett hitting both of his foul shots, and Crawford foul shot bouncing off the very top of the back board. We needed every single one of those. Great stuff.

I didn’t think much of that at the time but I thought Lange could have gotten a technical for standing on the court and barely getting out of Roziers way in OT.

Jake has been cleared to practice and Jakob is day to day so both may be in the lineup against GW.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

That's good news.   Jake will need time to get back into the flow, but it shouldnt take more than a week.   Hopefully Necas' ankle will not get worse, a week off might be best, to make sure its good for the rest of the year.

This team has come a long way since the start of the season, and really playing well together. Impressive Will To Win shown by this team last nigh, with so many big plays. Go Dukes 🏀

The transformation has been incredible. You can see the guys becoming closer spiritually on the court. Keep buying in!

Awesome win.  Their progression from the beginning of the year to now has been amazing.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

The reffing was terrible for the first 30 minutes of the game. The disparity in fouls was 17-4 at one point. A few of the fans in my section, myself included, were really letting the ref have it and at one point he addressed the crowd. I wasn’t so concerned about the fouls they were calling on DU (the ticky tack one on Wilborn was inexcusable though) it was what they weren’t calling on St Joes for the same transgressions!  Around the 6 minute mark they just decided to swallow the whistles and let the guys bang it out.  There was a lot of contact down the stretch that they had been calling all night that they let go. I’m happy they let the men decide the game and not blow the whistles in crunch time. And to their credit and what I believe was a direct result of the bashing they had received most of the evening the refs TOTALLY redeemed themselves by not blowing the whistle on a text book, obvious, travel  on Dixon’s crucial thunder dunk late in the 2nd half.  They knew their place was to not get in the way of that moment for a home team and their fans and they knew it would have been a rough last minutes on the court had they called it.  But there was nobody, watching at home, or at the Coop who didn’t see that travel.  So for all the ref bashing, and last night deservedly so, I must give them credit for making it all up to DU in that one, home cooked, non call. And they owed us - so all good in my book.

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

Great game at the Coop! Was a bit surprised that Max Edwards didn't get more PT at only a little over 7 minutes I believe. Went 2 for 2 with a 3 but rode the bench most of the night. Dixon unreal!!
This team is jelling having come such a long way in the last few weeks. Let's get Jake and Necas back in the fray and we'll see a winning record before too long and a strong run at playoff time. GO DUKES!!

Re: Game Thread - Saint Joseph's Hawks

For all the talk about Dixon’s 3 I have to wonder if he takes that shot if we’re trailing instead of tied. In all honesty, I’d hope he wouldn’t; but in that case I’d hope Corbett could find him earlier. The Hawks literally ignored him the entire possession.

He mentioned in his post game comments, “we were tied”. I think he was saying I went for it because they had nothing to lose at that point.

Yeah, he’s not taking that shot if we’re down.

There were multiple instances of the refs interacting with the crowd more than usual. That time the fans were yelling that the one refs whistle didn’t work and he whistled at the crowd was pretty funny.

Dixon, in his whole career is a team man. He takes that shot when the team is on his shoulders.  He plays where and when he is important. He is a big part of why we won an A-10 tournament. He is going to be central why we keep winning in this A-10 season and the tournament this year.   We have 3 Big's, but Dixon is letting the other Bigs develop in just the way he plays and let's them play too. He is very talented and is special. This is a very unselfish team. He keeps setting that example. And at the end of that game seeing Rozier jump up and hung that dude after that win.The two most unselfish players on earth. We are going to win a lot of A-10 games. These guys are special.
