Peter Suder - son of former Duquesne player Rick Suder

I was watching the various tournament championships this weekend and watched the MAC tournament final and happened to notice that Peter Suder was now playing for Miami.  Peter is the son of Rick Suder, who played for Duquesne back in the mid-80s.  Rick was one of the best, pure shooters we have seen at Duquesne and was originally from the Beaver County area.

I knew Rick from his time at Duquesne and I am very happy for him to see his son have success at the collegiate level.  I think Rick would have loved to see his son come here to Duquesne, but it was not meant to be.

Here is an update on Peter: https://miamiredhawks.com/news/2025/3/17/general-kunkel-suder-named-miami-athletes-of-week.aspx. He had a great tournament and has a very solid all-around game.

Congrats to Rick and his son Peter!

Re: Peter Suder - son of former Duquesne player Rick Suder

Thanks for the info, DU90. Rick was a great shooter; unfortunately for the Dukes and him, the 3 point shot was not an option when he played (was added the year after he graduated). He also was a good guy who worked his butt off to get better.

Rick holds 3 of the top 10 sports for season FT%; his 91.8% mark in 85-86 was finally broken by Dae Dae Grant last year.

Peter seems to be following along the same path of basketball growth as his dad; play 4 years at the same school and markedly improve each year. He ended up on the All-MAC first team this year. If the Miami Redhawks can keep their roster together (don’t think they played any seniors), look for them and Peter to have a monster of a year (and Peter to possibly win Player of the Year).

I believe that Peter played a year or two at Bellarmine U. before Miami (U).
