We need to start scheduling home and homes with these Mountain West teams. No reason for Boise and Nevada to not travel to the Bluff next season.

Thanks CLK
I know exhibitions but still great opportunity to play the guys against top notch competition
I am assuming we get a nice pay check for this?
Go Dukes

I agree Motor. At least we get a look at some high level competition. It’s better than nothing. Seeing both schedules though, it seems there are a few times that both teams could have a better game than what’s actually scheduled if they just played this one later and counted it.

VT already has a couple of A10 teams on its schedule. Would love to play them for real. The last time was a crazy great game, even though we lost.

I don’t know what the non-conference goal is for this year but reading about each of the teams, I would classify it as Weak.

It's hard to disagree with that assessment, but perhaps the logic was to not start 2-8 again.

Probably, but such a weak schedule doesn't help when an out of conference schedule is taken into consideration for tournament bids. If the goal was to play weak teams to have a better start, they need to not lose more than 2.

I feel there needs to be more pushback with not playing RMU each year. Do a home and home, who cares. If Pitt is not going to play Duquesne, then make sure to play the only other local rival in a packed gym. It's good for the school and the city's interest in the sport. There is no excuse to not play in my opinion.

I respectfully disagree. Just like Pitt has no benefit from playing DU, we get no actual benefit playing them. None. And yes I don’t care if it means an increased attendance for that game over playing say Cansius.
That is the way of the sports landscape.
And honestly I stop caring that Pitt does not play Duquesne. Just beat the teams on your schedule.
Online!
Dukes vs RMU isnt as big a draw as you might think. Wouldnt create a full Coop. Remember, we have no fans that show up, not even students. Maybe if it was the first game of the season, it would, but once the team loses a game, students dont show up, even for scholarships, cash, etc. They just dont care.

I disagree. I understand that the landscape has changed but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. And I’ll never understand the argument “DU/Pitt gets no benefit playing so and so”. Playing an in city “rival” is very beneficial. Those games are higher pressure, and more competitive. The players would greatly benefit from that prior to the grueling A-10 schedule. It’s not like football, these teams play 30 games a year - there’s no logical argument that they can’t accomplish what they need to with the schedule and not have room for an in city rival. Any fan would rather see DU play RMU/Pitt than any other school of similar pedigree that’s is scheduled. And finally, DU is not at a point in their program’s trajectory that an at large bid is realistic. The only way they are making the tourney is winning the A-10 tournament so let’s not pretend they have to be wary of scheduling a weaker opponent for resume purposes.

Think the Dukes with all their talent and experience and extreme size should go 12-1 or 13-0 in non conference play. Catching Villanova early as they are very young and inexperienced should be a win. Boise and Nevada both have lost a lot and have many newcomers. Nobody scares me in the A-10 so an at large bid is possible if we go 25-6 and win an A-10 tourney game, but i'm confident we will win the A-10 regular season and tourney. Go Dukes. This team is Loaded.
