This is probably one of the only times the away team plays in a stadium closer than the home team.

No line yet on the game.
Let’s make a good showing!

What does the board think is the best case scenario for this game? Obviously if Pitt shows up on their game it doesn't much matter how we play. Let's say they show up with their C- game though and we bring our A game do we have a chance of winning? Or are we just hoping to compete, enjoy a "home" away game, not have anybody get hurt, and cash the paycheck?

If the Dukes avoid mistakes and giveaways, I’ll predict a score along the lines of 42-17.
If Parentes were still around I’d say we could score more but without a proven QB, we may have a problem.

That sounds about right Coffee. I'll say 45-14, but that likely is still a win in Vegas. Any thought that losing Parentes could be addition by subtraction? Admittedly I don't watch much Dukes football, but the little I saw of him he seemed like a classic gunslinger, either lighting up the scoreboard for his team or for the other. Not having anything close to a proven QB could force us to lean on what should be a good defense and running game. Both may be overmatched against Pitt, but should be good the rest of the way, dare I say even against Akron.

Odds Shark is predicting Pitt 24.9 - Duquesne 16.7.
I’ll take it!!
Picks and Parlays says 41-10.

Nice article on City College Football Rivalry between Pitt, Duquesne and CMU.

I wonder if Narduzzi will run it up, or remain a decent person and limit the carnage?
62-7 if he wants, or 45-14, if he doesnt want to be a jerk. I'll watch the start, but Texas at OSU is much better entertainment.

Think it might be a lot closer than you think. I'd rather watch paint dry than watch those two factories. Ugh

Well there is an actual line on the game. Pitt is 37.5 point favorites with a 55.5 over/under. So unless my math skills have escaped me after all these years Vegas is calling 47-9. I'm not about to run out and place a bet since as Townson said it's largely on if Narduzzi wants to cover or not. Still, if I were a betting man I'd like our odds to cover. Unfortunately that's not enough for me to add another year to our undefeated streak against the football Panthers.

Thanks, luckymcd The line is up to 40 now, with a 57.5 O/U. I thought the line would settle around 42.

Well it was a disappointing start and finish, but we made some plays in the middle. It's rare you can lose by 50+ and still see any positives. This is one of those rare occasions though.
Isabella is a star. All-conference seems like just the beginning for him. If he keeps playing the way he has over the past several games I could see him being the NEC Player of the Year. He could even find his way into someone's training camp next year.
Elsewhere the numbers don't look good, but there were some other silver linings. The secondary held their own, even with a fair amount of man coverage. A lot of Pitt's completions were the result of a lack of a pass rush rather than poor coverage. Riddell could be an upgrade at QB. The pass protection was iffy, especially against blitzes, but the run blocking was better than I expected against a strong front seven. We did a decent job slowing down their run game too, with the obvious exception of Reid's big run.
I wish the final was closer, but I actually liked what I saw for the most part. Considering the huge drop-off in opposition the rest of the way I like our chances of winning the NEC. I think we'll be competitive against Akron and in the playoffs too, and could see us winning one.

I agree, luckymcd. Not many times that you can take quite a few positives out of a blowout loss, but I believe this is one of those times.

For anyone who went, how was the atmosphere? I only watched the broadcast so I couldn't really tell. It seemed like even the lower deck was less than half full and nobody seemed into the game even early on. Broadcasts can be deceiving in that way though. We all know Pitt doesn't care about football anymore and obviously it was a mismatch as expected, but I was still surprised at the apparent lack of interest.
I'm also curious if anyone in the know has any indications on if it will happen again. I don't know that I'd want it to be an annual game, but I also hope it wasn't a one-off. I don't know how the paycheck compared to our other FBS games, and of course that is the biggest factor. If we're going to get our heads beat in in these games though, why not minimize travel and do it against a program we have history and connections with?

Hah! When was Narduzzi ever a “decent” person!

I happened to turn on the Pitt radio feed in my car when Joey Isabella caught the pass and then DU scored the touchdown. I was shocked at the cheering for both. Perhaps it was just where the field mikes were located bit it sounded loud on the radio when DU scored.
I couldn’t watch. Where there a decent amount of DU fans there?

There was a nice crowd… Lots of Duquesne fans and loud when the team did well. A number of good plays to cheer.
More Pitt fans but Duquesne brought a lot more than I thought there would be.
